THEME FOR THIS YEARS SERIES REVEALED!



Big Brother will return this summer with a 'Power Trip' theme.


In the twist, one housemate will get control of the compound and their power is likely to include having a say over who gets evicted, who gets treats, and who suffers while in the house.

However, the housemate in power will only have control for so long before someone else becomes the ruler.

The new theme will kick in on launch night and will "dominate the house for the summer", as housemates must be "ruthless" to get power and keep it.

Viewers will also be given the power to manipulate the contestants throughout the series.

The twist was confirmed by Channel 5 today, while Big Brother's Bit on the Side host Rylan Clark tweeted (https://twitter.com/Rylan/status/467213579784306688) this morning: "Big Brother: Power Trip. Coming soon."

The famous Elstree house has been given a makeover, with a futuristic look to match the new eye (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s149/big-brother/news/a569762/big-brother-2014-get-your-first-look-at-the-new-eye.html). Technology is said to be at the heart of the new house, which features open spaces and sleek clean lines.

BIG Brother bosses made the housemates take IQ tests to make sure they are the brain-iest bunch ever.


The show’s top brass intend to subject this year’s contestants to a series of mind games that will drive them crazy and pit them against each other.
Producers had to ensure they are clever enough to cope with the battles planned for the spy house.
Each contender had to undergo a test to see how smart they are as bosses hope they will pull out all the stops to get one over each ­other during the series, which is called Big Brother: Power Trip.
Bit On The Side host Rylan Clark, 25, warned that with brains come games as the new bunch are “ruthless, sly and vindictive”.
He explained: “This year they’re very, very clever and they’ve all been IQ tested.

In the past, shock evictions and the sudden arrival of new housemates have been second-guessed by the wannabes, losing their impact on the gang.

So now bosses have decided to come up with ways of springing shockers that no-one would have guessed.

Asked about plans to kick someone out at 6am, host Emma Willis, 38, teased: “It’s a great idea.”

Wannabes will be confronted with a futuristic setting designed to put them on edge the second the house doors lock behind them.

And they will not get any comfort in the Diary Room, as bosses have given it a Matrix-style makeover.

“It’s about power: gaining power, keeping power and what you do with that power. Do you use it for good? For bad? For manipulation?”

Instead of a comfy chair and colourful surroundings, housemates will find a room that looks like it belongs in a spaceship. The chair is equipped with three state- of-the-art computer screens which Big Brother bosses will use to communicate with this year’s contenders.

The screens could also be used to give housemates a glimpse of what’s going on in the outside world via social media including Twitter and Facebook.

The space-age look comes as bosses introduce technology into the series for the first time as part of this year’s theme, which has been dubbed “Power Trip”.

Show chiefs are keeping the exact details a secret, but plan to use the technology to cause chaos in the house.

“Do you use it for good? For bad? For manipulation? To win friends to keep you in the house? To get you out of the house?

“Someone, or groups of people, can get power from Big Brother, but what will they do with the power when they get it?

“A lot will depend on the people we have in the house.

“We don’t know who they are but we know they are quite savvy and bright.

Housemate number 1 is a Journalist from Northern Ireland - BIG fan of Katy Hopkins and White Dee!

2nd Housemate is from Glassgow, She's a Lingerie Model and not a fan of gay Marriages!

We also have an Essex Lad who lives in a bachelor pad with his mate - he's 27!

Next is a London Lass, she's 24 - she think's she's a bit of a Wild Child or Loose Cannon, she also run away at 16!

We have a Gobby 23 year old from Hertfordshire, friends describe him as funny!

Our 49 Year old is from Wolverhampton, and had a promising music career in the early 90's!

First launch night a bit disappointing. They've obviously chosen the most argumentative, stuck-up, vain people possible and this will be great tv but gone are the days where normal / weirdos went in!

It's like most of their personalities are copies but in various attractive bodies

MY REVIEW OF THE FIRST LAUNCH 1

HOUSEMATES


Helen

Obviously has an interesting past (sleeping with Wayne Rooney) and she seems like quite a nice girl. At the moment I think she will be quite boring and in the background but will start to come out her shell more as the series goes on! Also I think she will be popular with the public. I expect her to be friends with the men mainly.

Danielle

The public will hate her for her views on gay marriage etc. and will probably be evicted out first which is a shame because I think she will be very argumentative in the house - even last night she went up to Matthew in the box and told him she didn't think they would get along. I don't know who she'll be friends with in the house!

Kimberly

The American girl who seems quite smart despite being a Playboy model. I also think she'll be quite argumentative but popular with the public! I don't have much more to say about her really.

Pauline

My favourite housemate from last night! She seems very genuine and very happy and I think she is going to do very well in Big Brother. However, peoples opinions of her could change during the series (remember Wolfy last year?) so she needs to watch what she says and does. I was glad and nervous for her when she got the power because although it's great to have the power, who knows what else it will bring and could cause other housemates to turn on her and nominate her for eviction. Potential winner!

Tamara

She is also one of my favourites - seems very smart and I think she'll have a strong game plan. She is the sort of person you expect to see on The Apprentice. I think she'll be a fun, social housemate but also very prone to arguing and will get involved in every bit of drama in the house. I hope she does will throughout the series!

Christopher

Being a journalist I expect him to have quite strong opinions on all the housemates and I'm sure because of his occupation, other housemates will be very wary of him. I must admit, he was one of the 'forgettable' housemates from last nights launch but he seems like a nice guy. I also think he would use the 'power' well to his advantage if he ends up getting it.

Mark

Very annoying and camp. I was pissed off he got the £5000 last night. However I expect there will be tension between him and housemates like Danielle who are quite anti-gay. He seems like quite a desperate person who wants fame (has already appeared on reality shows like The X Factor and Shipwrecked) but I think Mark will do well throughout the seriesand is also a potential winner.

Matthew

Seems like quite a diva and I don't think he is going to cope well in the house without all his luxuries which he usually gets. I don't think he deserved to be punished (he was in that box until 11 this morning!) and he will be an interesting character. I'm not really sure who he is going to be friends with to be honest, hopefully someone similar to him enters the house tonight.

Steven

The rich business man who is also one of my favourites. He seems quite controlling which is great considering the 'Power Trip' theme to this series of Big Brother. I also expect him to be quite opinionated but outgoing and friends with the housemates who are people who he wouldn't necessary speak to outside the house. If he doesn't **** it up he could progress quite well in the series.

Winston

I think he will be one of the jokers of the series. I don't get why people (in my room last night) hated him so much, he seems quite funny and genuine and I expect him to do well in Big Brother - maybe even get with one of the girls!?



THE TWIST


The twist was quite good in my opinion even though I thought Pauline picked completely the wrong people. I would have picked Winston for the reward and Danielle for the punishment. Just from last night you could tell the producers are going to put a lot of effort into this years 'Power Trip' theme and I hope the 'power' gets handed to a range of housemates!

Jale(?) is great too, the most "normal" one and she is also a moody cow (perfect)

I also warmed to last night's housemates during the highlights and the only one i'm not feeling is the american. When she was talkin to the rich mongo on the sofa, she just wasn't interested at all lol but apart from that nothing there imo!

Ok seeing as Habbox was down forever during for second launch I will just write a little bit about what I thought about the newbies and the twist;

Ash - Seems quite cool and laid back, not sure if he'll get involved in many arguments. I suspect he could get nominated a lot.
Ashleigh - I like Ashleigh seems really nice and pretty and I imagine if groups form she'll be one of the 'outsiders'.
Chris - Hate Chris looks like he will be boring get him OUT
Toya - Toya is really coool and I also think she might be an outsider
Jale - Not too sure about Jale yet but seems quite opinionated which is what I like
Marlon - Despite being my sweepstake I don't really like him too much, tries too hard to be a 'lad'

I thought Fridays twist was good - I don't mind Helen getting the pass to the final I think she deserves it but I have no doubt it will be removed from her for whatever reason. The killer nomination is what angers me because there is a risk we will lose a potentially good housemate - after watching yday highlights I have a feeling Pauline will choose one of the new people like Chris.

pauline is being quite spiteful towards the new housemates, she and the other 9 were only in there for 24 hours extra and yet she's making out they own the place. she has a really ugly personality and it's being shown through the power trip.
