I've decided I want to buy a touch screen laptop as my parent's laptop has decided to break, so they'd get the one I use now if I got a new one. I'm not very technical though, so I was hoping some of you might help. +Rep to anyone who actually helps.

My budget is say £400-£500 at most :P. I'm only going to be using it for browsing, gaming such as Habbo and Minecraft, so it doesn't have to specifically be for gaming or anything else.

Does it have to be touchscreen?

Found this article from techradar, not sure if that's what you were looking for though!

To be honest, my parents have a touch screen and it's almost useless, they're ok if it's one of those detaching ones, making it effectively a tablet, but as it is they are kind of a fad, and I'd really advise not wasting your money on one!

unless you bend it or pop it out the keyboard to make it a tablet

I can't think of anything I want less than a touch screen laptop

Touchscreen is just awkward in most cases unless it's also a tablet, save money or go for higher spec instead.

I could afford a really expensive one if I wished, but I don't need to spend so much on it if I'm not going to use it for much. It'd just be used for what it is now. Do you mean something like that http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-pavilion-x2-11-h003sa-11-6-2-in-1-21750388-pdt.html then?

My sister has a touch screen laptop and she enjoys it, especially since it does give you the option.

In your case though, since you game and my sister doesn't is that maybe a touch screen isn't what you are needing for what your wants/needs are.

Maybe putting the money towards RAM and the processor, that way- you can benefit from the running capacity of a larger RAM.
Now, I would go find links for certain computers, but since I am not in the uk, my links probably wouldn't help much.

The one on television at the moment is surprisingly good. It's the ASUS X102B:

My mum uses it and it's strangely a nice little laptop and the touchscreen isn't necessarily useful but it's nice to have to just quick tap and read emails or click around websites. It's not that expensive either, but it is only a 10.1" screen.

Not sure if it will play Minecraft, but it should be fine with Habbo. It's pretty comfortable with streaming videos which usually gives laptops a challenge.

Yeah, but the only one I've seen on the market of acceptable quality is the Surface Pro which is out of your price range. They also all have tiny screens.

the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p is a good all around laptop, should play Minecraft and have a smooth usage, it's $899 last time I checked, that should be about £530 if I'm not mistaken?

I have a touchscreen desktop all in one and trust me the amount of times you will use the feature for touch screen will be very minimal, you only really need a touchscreen inputted computer if you're going to be designing intermediate graphics. You will be best of buying an average computer without a touchscreen feature.

To add: The touchscreen feature is maximized to use most of your PCs RAM and primary storage so it makes it slow on games etc if you will be using the laptop as well, e.g. Habbo. Especially if you have multiple applications open etc, HabboxForum and Minecraft slows your laptop down also if you have Habbo and Minecraft open it lags!

I thought touch screen was pointless too, until I got a touch screen laptop and it's actually occasionally useful :P. Not saying it's a must have feature, but it is nice to have. As for brand, I recommend Dell as usual :P.

I would recommend though either of the following:
Lenovo
HP
