If I had to chose anything then probably this. Although they may have their reasons it's probably best to tell the person you were originally dating/seeing that you are no longer interested them etc etc. Rather than being lead on for many months which will hurt even more. I would hope the person would be honest and just end it there and then.

There is other stuff like rape etc etc.
