lol I'm dreading this too. airports are so intimidating. I'm sure it's all fairly straightforward though, take a variety of things to do just in case you get bored of something.

Just look lost and ask for guidance at every step of the airport and nothing can go wrong really

If you're really stuck then just ask for help. There are loads of airport staff standing about who're more than happy to help. Remember that your boarding pass will have all the necessary info on it anyway so even if you don't know how to get to your departure gate you still know the gate number and that will be plenty info for someone to help you get there. But yeah just keep your eyes peeled for the signs and you can't go wrong.

General advice would be: if you're taking anything value then keep it in your carry-on bag. Flying alone is pretty fun.

i flew back by myself a few years ago, i ended up tearing up but quickly got over it. it's fine really, just take a book and listen to a bit of music and you'll be fine. my flight was delayed by several hours, so i hope yours doesnt it was the worst thing about the flight :rolleyes:

(you're also flying on my bday just thought i'd add that in)

frequently fly on my own

it's fine, a person with an IQ of 50 eg Evanora; can use an airport/follow airport directions
the only thing i have a problem with sometimes is putting my carry on luggage up in the overhead compartment cos i'm a weak ***** but most kind people will see you struggle and help or i've just resorted to asking people to do it for me lol

fly light

nothing worse than added stress of lugging 1 ton of baggage with u

most airports are very well signposted so just copy what other people do

Just go early and wait at what ever gate you will have to go in. you cant get lost if you're coming off the plane if said person will be at the gate you are coming out of. Try and be nice to the people you sit with. some times they will tell interesting stories to help the time go by. OH!!! AND NEVER TAKE THE PEANUTS! NEVER

I flew from Amsterdam to New York on my own and it was super straight forward. Going through immigration though when i landed in New York took houuuuuuuuuuuuuuurs. Super snaz man. Make sure your there in good time, check in and give your **** to the woman, have a bite to eat, before you know it your being called to the departure gate which is on your boarding card. Just chill around the gate in the departure lounge and wait for the person to say you're boarding. Wait for all the posh people to go first 'coz were peasants and they cram us in haha, then you waddle on behind.

On arrivals theres literally only one way you can go. Like literally. everything is well sign posted too. You check in, move over to the spinny tings where your luggage is gwarning and then you head for the exit signs and before i knew it, i was outside the airport hailing a taxi.

I found i was just eating the whole way there & back haha. Not gonna turn down free food. I had an iPad anyway but they give you headphones and there was loads of good movies/tv on the seat televisions that are right infront of you.

I flew when I was five to Pakistan to visit my uncles who have now moved to bradford but yeah. I was only five years old and turned six there, it was really exciting yet tiring for me, the plane journey I remember falling asleep almost instantly and eating on the plane I also remember the last day in Pakistan and my aunt was feeding me weetabix and getting me ready to get back on the plane was very exciting and stuff although at the end of it I had a good long sleep. Since then I haven't flew however I'm planning to soon. I don't travel a lot except for cities nearby such as sheffield (which I moved to today for a few nights), bradford, london etc. I'm also planning to go to disney land soon so really cannot wait for that never too old for it. ;) So yeah, gl gl.

I know this thread is a little old but just some extra advice for anyone else doing it in the future;
Speaking in terms of all the stuff I've done you'll be completely fine however one thing I've learnt is once you arrive and go towards Passport control and customs, Follow everyone else with confidence and try and blend in. It just stops you from faffing and gets you out of the airport much sooner without any trouble.
