View Full Version : Theory of Evolution & Big Bang or "God"?

I was just on my out to get some KFC when a shared video came up about a guy talking about the creation of the universe. Got me thinking and I believe that the earth was created out of chance and that we are who we are today through the evolution of the world but he did say a point which was mad thought intriguing;
If a tornado struck through a Lamborghini warehouse, how many times would it have to be repeated until it made a fully functioning Lamborghini Gallardo on the otherside of the tornado. Essentially that is what we believe in with Evolution and the big bang theory. That the world was moulded together by different forms of rock and what not and it produced one living organism, which then flourished to what we know as the world today.
And for those who heavily believe in the faith of god, it wasn't a negative attack on you by using "God", as i personally believe there is a higher power but just not an elderly white guy with a beard, not some creature with a trunk, not some woman with 8 different limbs etc etc, not the generic images we're force fed as children growing up through school which resembles god.
Lamborghini Gallardo being a top of the range sports car.

This post could be found offensive to a couple of people.
"there is a higher power but just not an elderly white guy with a beard, not some creature with a trunk, not some woman with 8 different limbs" ..

Are we not force fed these images through school to resemble a variety of different peoples depictions of god? It isn't being racist or being offensive, that is plain and utter fact.
"as i personally believe there is a higher power but just not an elderly white guy with a beard, not some creature with a trunk, not some woman with 8 different limbs etc etc," - What should have been quoted. Its my belief.

You're assuming evolution has some sort of purpose or end goal (tornado making a Lamborghini).
And whoever you're quoting most likely stole it from an astronomer called Chandra Wickramasinghe "The chances that life just occurred are about as unlikely as a typhoon blowing through a junkyard and constructing a Boeing 747"

No, we are taught that some people believe those things. We are not forced into any sort of religious views through school unless you specifically attend a Catholic school or some other such religious institution. You seem to be confusing the words "plain and utter fact" with "total bollocks that I made up"
Also the Big Bang theory doesn't posit that the world was made from a load of rocks being moulded together. It's probably a good idea to actually learn something if you're going to talk about it.

Well fed up with your persistent agg. Okay, we were taught the various different depictions of god. Okay. I would say forced as it was a law for me to attend school therefore it was technically forced upon me as i had to attend RE lessons until year 9.
Please, give me the full explanation as to what the Big Bang is and tell me it isn't what i summed up in my extremely dumbed down and quick sentence.

Well fed up of your idiocy and ineptitude; if you preach uneducated lies as though they're universal truth you can expect to get called out on it. And boo hoo you had to go to lessons, maybe if you'd paid attention in them you'd know what you're talking about on occasion.
The full explanation of the Big Bang theory goes into quantum physics which even its originators and researchers don't know everything about, so I clearly cannot do that, as you would know if you knew what it was. It also doesn't attempt to state how the event came to occur, and is not/was not ever intended as a complete explanation of the history of the universe or even as a refutation to religious beliefs. Again, you're attempting to talk about things which you don't actually have any education in, which is just stupid.

Just watched that video, the guy is full of nonsense.
Dear Mr. Atheist, first of all let me correct you, because evolution is not a science, never has, never will be. Why? Because it cannot fit within the parameters of parenthesis of science for one simple reason, it was never observed, that’s why it’s not science. That’s why it’s called the theory of evolution
Evolution is a fact, the theory of evolution explains it. The same could be said with gravity, but nobody disputes that? And evolution has been observed. (http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn14094-bacteria-make-major-evolutionary-shift-in-the-lab.html)

Please. Ask anybody that went to a public school. During RE lessons from years 6-9 I was asked to read books, perform assignments and various of other written work on the various different depictions of god. In what part is me being an idiot? I am talking about the core basic images which are displayed to us as school attendees. I dont understand what you can't comprehend about that? I haven't once during this post disputed views or religious values, I am talking about the DEPICTIONS OF GOD.
But ultimately, as stated, the world came to be. Thats what i'm getting at ya baffoon.

Probably a poor choice of words considering you're arguing you were forced into it.

This isn't the topic. The direction this discussion has gone in is to be frank ridiculous. This isn't about me, it isn't about the depictions of god, it is either, did god make everything or did the big bang and evolution?

It's not always just one or the other!
I believe in evolution.
I somewhat believe in the big bang, but there are other theories I believe in much more.
I sort of believe in God, hard to explain. I believe there's definitely a greater power out there that may or may not have helped start life on earth, but not specifically humans. I certainly do not believe in any of the current religions.

I believe that the world was created by a god (obviously not how you described).
I do not know how God looks like and he was not described to me. I do not believe in the Big Bang. I do believe that there is NO associates with my God. He does not have any family or beginning or end. It's just him and his messengers which also are not associates they're human and normal. This religion is Islam. (inb4 disrespect). I do pray five times a day and read the qur'an.

You must have gone to a pretty terrible school (which would explain a lot) if they taught you that an old bloke with a big beard is an accepted image of God, and I wouldn't suggest that any depiction of Ganesha is "generic" as you claimed, as elephant-headed deities aren't exactly commonplace and within Hinduism he is merely one aspect of god who appears in a great many forms. The part of you that's being an idiot is the part which is writing these words for you. Also:
I am talking about the DEPICTIONS OF GOD.
it isn't about the depictions of god
lol
But ultimately, as stated, the world came to be. Thats what i'm getting at ya baffoon.
Well yes clearly considering it's here. What you're "getting at" doesn't stop you from being wrong about what you think certain theories entail, and if you don't even know anything about what you're claiming to believe in then how can you possibly attempt to preach it and think that you're in the right?

Okay you have quoted me during our discussion regarding you grilling me about the many forms of god. Then you have quoted me as i'm trying to close that conversation and getting back to the topic. So 'lol' all you like. Search god into google images, you will see, an elderly man, with a white beard, trying to resemble a certain depiction of god. Please lets not try and be clever now son.
In lamens terms, the big bang happened, a planet was formed, the planet flourished, millions of years later i'm talking to your dumb ass about it. Nothing more needs to be said..
Now instead of trying to act massive behind your computer ite, just answer the thought intriguing question which was put to you in the first place instead of purposefully trying to antagonize and patronize me. You're only making yourself out to be a bit of a bell.

I haven't said anything which is remotely incorrect in this whole thread. If you need for me to take to google images and search god depictions and count how many different images are sitting there through their connections to the resemblance of a god then i will if it will eventually quieten you children down. Its laughable really. These forum e-famous members feel it is a necessity to all jump on the huge bandwagon in patronizing the new members. It really is laughable...

Google images is now school and the ultimate truth, I see. I don't have to try to be clever it just happens naturally

In layman's terms lots more needs to be said because a) there's a lot more to it and b) you still got stuff wrong that needed correcting
Now instead of trying to act massive behind your computer ite, just answer the thought intriguing question which was put to you in the first place instead of purposefully trying to antagonize and patronize me. You're only making yourself out to be a bit of a bell.
I'm not acting anything, it's not a particularly intriguing question nor is it one that was written at all well, I'm correcting you not patronising you, and everyone already knows I'm a bit of a bell. You are very bad at this

Erm. Nope. Nothing much really needs to be said. The sentence i produced sufficed. You get the feeling what i'm trying to get at unless you are a complete moron.

I hate to break it to you son, but I am new to the forum. I joined in 2008 to advertise a habbo fansite i was apart of and quite shortly after. I've listened to HxL occasionally during the years but i've never been involved with the forum up until i was established as Senior DJ about a month ago....

"School teaches us that God is a white man with a beard"
"no it doesn't"
"look at Google images"
Is how the conversation went. If you can't keep up with your own posts that isn't my fault. Also if you do search it you get a picture of Lady Gaga, who definitely was not on the RE syllabus

That's what you claimed, and it isn't true; when you claim things that aren't true it's called being wrong. When you are wrong, more needs to be said in order to correct it. This is not a difficult thing to grasp

I believe in a higher power having a hand behind the creation of the universe, or at least the creation of Mankind.
The belief in ultimate justice is very important to me.

Okay well let's be on-topic
I think that there was no higher power necessary, personally. All of creation had something like a 1 in 300 million chance (I think that's what I was told sometime) to actually occur, had it been caused by the Big Bang. For all of eternity before creation started (yes, pre-time exists now), think of how many times the Big Bang failed to occur. Sooner or later, that 1 in 300 million chance would have been exhausted and the Big Bang actually happen. I like to think of it like trying to start a car up that's not working, when it kind of just shouts noise at you a few times before actually being able to start.
Although I think there's no scientific basis for this, I can't fathom how there wasn't anything like time or space BEFORE creation/the Big Bang, so I'm trying to put reason into it

There has to have been something before the Big Bang, that's part of the theory :P and that's where a lot of theistic (although non-religious) ideas come into play, although there are also theories like the rubber band theory and some about the creation of our universe coming from other beings but not deific ones, and really there's no way of currently knowing - essentially though it has to at some point come back to illogical existence and the breaking of just about every law of physics, which is always fun
