Hai guys!
So today, me and this super cute guy at work were on the same department and we got talking about our plans for college and stuff blah blah blah, and he mentioned that he goes to the gym and stuff. I showed interest in this, shocked that the town even had a gym as I'd never seen it before!
Anyway, he then went on to say he would love it if I joined him and we could be gym buddies! :O He explained what time it was open etc, and said we could go after work some days if I wanted and he'd show me how everything works and give me tips and stuff. He is so lovely!
Anyway, I'm just wondering, )having never been to a gym in my life!) what sort of clothing is best to wear to the gym? Do people generally wear shorts, or tracksuits, and like what kind of top? Regular polo shirt etc, and I'm guessing trainers, but not sure if any other type of footwear is best? :P
Also wondering what peoples experiences are with going to the gym? What machines do you use and stuff and do you enjoy it? :D I'm kind of excited but kind of nervous at the same time! :P
Thanks guys

yeah either shorts or tracksuit bottom, tshirt/polo shirt and obviously trainers
not sure what your type if gym will be like but with ours we get induction where they take an hour and go through each machine showing you how to work it etc and taking all your info then we program the machines etc to what we want
depends really how old your gym is might be ancient machines that aren't electronic so just go in and do what you want
Just wear something that you'll feel comfortable exerting yourself in. If you sweat a lot then a dark top probably to hide it until u become more comfortable, some loose bottoms that you can move about easily in and trainers that are comfortable to run in. gl with it bolt, working out is definitely a good way to stay happy and healthy and it's good that you've found someone prepared to guide you :)

Oh awesome :D Shorts it is then aha! I think tracksuit bottoms would get far too warm!
It's a pretty modern gym I think, its part of a big leisure complex that has all sorts of other stuff too, even like badminton and volleyball and I used to love those :O
Do you normally take a towel?

Woo thanks Kyle :D
Yeah, I get bored out of my mind sometimes, so it will be lovely to have something beneficial to do! Sounds like a challenge, but a fun one!
I thought it was so sweet how he used the term 'Gym Buddies' LOL
Talked to him loads during my shift this morning, about allsorts which is unusual because I hardly talk to anyone at work normally! xD I'm sure he'll look after me haha xD

you can take a small towel for when you sweat and take water bottle, gym should have a water machine
gym will probably have paper towels/cleaning stuff to clean down machines after you're finished, if not wipe it with your towel (if it's all sweaty)
take an ipod or something if the gym doesn't have tv/radio on each machine unless you two are gonna talk a lot
Aww. Start with machines like the treadmill or the stationary bikes, bring an extra change of clothes and deodorant so you don't smell afterwards ;)
Have fun, Martin!

I like to wear a suit to the gym just to show everyone that I'm better than them
wear something that accentuates the booty
Depends what you're going the gym to do
Attire for both weight training and cardio for me is the same. Good pair of trackies and running shoes and a t-shirt.
Make sure you take a drink - either like still lucozade or water for both cardio and weight training.
If you are planning on doing any weights then I highly recommend taking weight-lifting gloves if you start going regularly.
That's about it - gyms are usually pretty relaxed. Better if you go to a gym with people of mixed abilities and such..
Like Zak said, it depends what your aims/goals are.
If you want to lose weight, you'll find yourself spending plenty of time on the treadmill. in which case you will definitely need running shoes, without them you can do more damage than you realise!
As for dress wear, the best idea is to probably go there and see what others are wearing and make sure you feel comfortable in what you wear!

Nuuuuuuuuu!!!! He is wayyyy out of my league haha
I just think its so nice he's taking the time to talk to me at all, it makes such a change to have someone to talk to at work :) He said he's really excited about having a gym buddy which is cool too! xD
Thanks everyone for the helpful replied! :)
Yeah it is mainly about losing weight and stuff haha, decided its time for change! I think this is the push I needed :P

imo if ur doing cardio ensure you take ur phone/mp3 or whatever with headphones. without i get bored lol a good playlist/music makes it much more enjoyable (and therefore you'll workout longer). well thats the case for me anyway

Gym buddies on grinder normally means something very different I have heard.
I wish I had a gym buddy! :(
Okay yeah so as ya know Martini I work in a gym :P Shorts/Tracksuit and running shoes are a must. Just wear a comfortable top and if you think you'll be sweating a lot, as someone said, wear a dark t-shirt if you're uncomfortable with sweat marks.
What you do there is really dependent on your goals. If you're just going to chat up this guy, do something close to him so ye can chat but nothing too strenuous. If he goes often he'll probably be fitter/stronger than you so don't outdo yourself. If you wanna spend some time getting fit, do cardio but if you're aiming to lose weight don't bother with cardio and stick with weights.
Make sure you bring a water bottle, towel and a spare change of clothes. There's so much more I could tell you if I knew what type of place it was like so maybe we can chat on Skype tomorrow before I go away :o
he probably just wants you to spot him on bench press

has anyone else had the unfortunate scenario of asking someone to spot them then getting sweaty balls in your face..

I'm so excited omg! :D
Yeah he's said he will make sure we start off slow and stuff because I won't be used to any of it, he reccomended that I go two times a week to begin with and see how I get on (he goes like 4) xD
He is definitely fitter/stronger than me! :P He even sent me before and after pictures of himself topless after 6 months of going to the gym and the changes are MASSIVE omg, it's like a completely different body :O So proud of him haha xD

Haha
I've never had a spotter (but sometimes I think I should).. I always feel like I can push myself that bit further but never do as I don't want to fail on my last one or two reps :P
I always use a smith machine though so it's safer

To be frank, all depends on how sexayyy you are hahaha! If you are a woman in need of losing weight, then a simple pair of shorts, a T would and a standard pair of running shoes would be reet. But, there are like a clique of girls who go to the gym, just to say they go to the gym. You'll have to perform your pre-nightout getting ready ritual so thats hair, makeup, nails etc before you even enter the gym, teeny tiny tank tops which show off far more cleavage than completely necessary and yoga pants pulled right up into your lady bits to highlight your bottom (don't forget to pick out the camel though).

^ I did the same and had to keep waddling off to the water fountain thingy with some plastic cups which is not very good for keeping yourself going so yeah remember water AND A TOWEL for when you go all sweaty betty

It's funny because I absolutely HATED water until just recently I tried some volvic water that had lemon and lime in it, and it was delicious! :O So I've started drinking water now too instead of the fizzy drinks etc xD
Thanks for the helpful tips guys :D Got my induction on Tuesday, so will go shopping tomorrow for some hot new gym clothes ;) Got to impress ma gym buddy haha ;)

What I wear generally depends on what I'm doing on the day. If I'm doing cardio I'll wear capri workout pants a tank top, if I'm doing spin classes I'll wear shorts/cycling shorts and either a tank top or cycling shirt.
Strength training I'll usually wear jogging/tracksuit bottoms and a tank/short sleeve shirt - capri pants or leggings if it's hot.
If I'm mixing it up on a long day then I'll wear shorts or capris and tank top. :)
Bit late to the party. ;P

Remember to wear a tight shirt so when you and your male lover stare at yourselves in the mirror and flex for a few hours it looks really douchy :-DDD
Oh and make sure you take your mobile phone so when you're done on a machine you can sit there and text for 15-20 mins
Have fun!!!!!!

I'm a girl so our outfit for the gym wouldn't be the same as I wear leggings lol but believe me when I say, don't expect the gym to b a very romantic way to hang out at the start of a relationship. Working out and getting sweaty is not sexy lol
