View Full Version : Birthday celebrations (toot toot)

Yet to see what will actually come of this of course but the announcement from Phil (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=804886) looks promising, nice to see a bit of cross department work going forward with the takeovers so that'll be interesting once the times are sorted and nice bonus for the weekly posting thingy. Also nice to see that we haven't been promised any huge song and dance that won't get followed through like last year for Hx10, keeping it classy doing what you know you can do for the community

Any further thoughts or whatnot :¬::¬::¬:

forum competitions should be more frequent anyway but should be good, might check out the takeovers if there's reminders
are you recycling old birthday donor or doing something better for 10th

- - - Updated - - -

is there old skins you can release for a bit or are they too buggy?

Phil

Glad to see you have some faith in the Celebrations so far at least.

The reason times aren't 100% organised yet is because I've just received a promotion in work and that's muddled my hours up ad bit so I need to make sure I'm actually around for them :P

Unfortunately I haven't arranged anything VIP/Donator wise because I've found it so hard to find something that hasn't been used for a birthday before. All my ideas have been soooo similar to recent one or ones you can currently get anyway lmao but I'm going to try and sort something in the next few days. I can tell you this though. If I do sort something, you will not be able to purchase this VIP, it can only be earned! This is because I'm hoping to sell some VIP for the World Cup once it reaches the semi stage.
David; I agree that Forum Competitions should be more frequent, it's actually been targets in monthly reports to make a competition for your forum area but tbh I know this was coming up so I've been cheeky and saving them all lmao.

I'm open to all suggestions :)

---

Good idea! I can release some old skins but will talk to Matt first to make sure they're not too buggy, I'll keep you posted :)

Chris

There aren't any old skins available as we deleted them all.

Anyway, the plans are looking good. I'll check out the helpdesk & habboxlive takeovers as they should be fun!

No, we deleted them because they didn't work. There is a possibility they're on the test forum but I cant remember when exactly they were removed.

Edit: No chance, test forum is dead.

I think part of the celebration should be that 10-year forum vets should get dancing bears next to their names (h) Or dogs. Dogs would be cool too.

Forum Management aren't happy giving 10 year old accounts permanent VIP but are okay to give them certain VIP features such as bigger signatures/avatars. So I'm just trying to think of a balance and a good way to show them off.

Wouldn't you agree that being a member for over a decade warrants similar features to that of having 20k posts? Out of interest what were the reasons behind Forum Management opposing it?

Wouldn't you agree that being a member for over a decade warrants similar features to that of having 20k posts? Out of interest, what were the reasons Forum Management opposed it?

In my eyes it does but their reason is the following:

"I feel it defeats the work that the few Habbox Gods put into the forum. Because you know sometimes (rarely) you see people with like less than 100 posts with Anniversary VIP and it's like, you didn't earn that."

Rarely being the key point. The overwhelming majority of members that have been here around the 10 year mark have also been members of the community. How many people do you think will rock up after 10 years to get some features on a website they have long forgotten about? That view completely trivialises the amount of time those members have been supporting habbox.

Ahha! Yes I was trying to think of something, rep is definitely a good idea :)

So say you must have 2/3 of

• Be a member of the Forum for 10+ years
• Have over 20,000 posts
• Have over 10,000 reputation points

Which means I doubt any current Gods would lose their status, and it's hard to get 20k posts without at least 10k rep points! But it means that more people might be eligible - I have over 10k rep points and will prob get over 20k posts before I'm here 10 years (if I keep this up!)

I'm not so certain, rep inflation is a very serious factor, because people's rep powers are so much higher nowadays the quantity of rep is so much higher too. I remember when 10 rep power was considered high. Now 50 is considered the low end of high.

-Nick

A lot more users will then be eligible for Forum God and once people like myself ( ;) ) get to that stage it won't feel like an achievement before hand.

Maybe put it higher then? If we figure out the average of the current Gods then set it at the lowest of theirs or something? Or just set it at 20k or something and if they're lower then just say we won't revoke status, this is just from here on in?

So once you hit 20k posts you get Forum God regardless of any other factors.

Being a member since the dawn of time =/= constant contribution so it's not really a great way of judging what rewards people should have other than the actual 10 year milestone, also not convinced that rep should factor in the status of Forum God since we already have an indicator of rep. If bonuses need to be given to people who managed to sign up at a certain date then it ought to be done separately to the Forum God usergroup - it's really very easy to have a requestable usergroup with similar/same perks but not the title

What i suggested to Phil (Which most of you have?) was to make the Forum God usergroup a requestable usergroup and have a criteria of you must have 20k posts or have been on the forum for 10 years. As Forum Gods already have the VIP avatar etc limits maybe we can add a bit more like able to open and close threads (if they haven't got that already). I wasn't all for the idea at first but it seems reasonable?

Inseriousity.
21-07-2014, 12:51 PM
I would do it how FlyingJesus says, like the Habbox Merit usergroup. The 'Old Fogey' usergroup. Like the don says it shouldn't be too much as most people tend to leave before 10 years. Even if Habbox was open til 2020, the amount of people in the usergroup - like the habbox merit where you've got to request it - would be slim.

As Nick said, not everyone who signed up 10 years ago is still around or active on the forum. Plus, if we go ahead with what has been suggested then it will a usergroup that the user will have to request and we would review it then.
