Hey Guys, this is a site I've been working on recently using the Joomla platform.
Still learning ALOT and this is just the start of the project. I thought I might document my progress here if that would be okay.
This is where I am currently.
This website is for a gaming community I Co-Founded with a friend late last year. Doing mostly Game Server hosting and community events.
I have started to move into Youtube as well which I hope to use this site to promote as well.
This is very much a work in progress, so be kind, but I am happy for any ideas. There is alot I still need to do/change.
Thanks Guise!

It doesn't look to bad although it still needs a lot more work onto it but it is turning out good so far :)

Yeah ALOT of work still needed...
Most of those images are placeholder currently as I am waiting for my design friend to whip up some magic. :)
I had a friend working on it recently and he managed to screw up a lot of the backend which was a little sad.

The background is ugly imho and it's way too short as it cuts off near the bottom.
'My stuff' should be changed to User Panel or something as my stuff just looks stupid and unprofessional
Your 'about us' isn't anything about you, it's just your ToS, it should contain information on each of the team etc.

Looks good, although i'm not a fan of how the background cuts off before the bottom. Also on your slider when you click the LEFT arrow to go to the next slide from slide 1 to slide 5 the size of the slider box increases. Not a huge problem but worth fixing.

Yeah like I mentioned before, most images currently are placeholder. So that should be fixed soon.
Yeah good point about the terminology used. Will work on that as well.
Thanks for the feedback. Still ALOT of work to be done on it :)
Learning alot as I go.

You sort of ruined the template you downloaded;

Looks far better like that.

It's a good start, and it's promising! I'm having a little trouble navigating some pages, as when I click on links they lead me back to the same page I was on. I don't know if that's an error or intended, but it does make things look a little shabby :(

Like I said I have taken this project over from a mate who claimed to "be good at web design"
It's extremely messy in the back.
I do agree, but it'll get there. I really don't want it to be anything like that template, why? Because it's a template. I prefer originality.
Hoping to get a lot done on it this weekend.
But thanks for the feedback.

We all start somewhere... This is a big learning project for me.

Joomla isn't exactly the most burgeoning platform at this time. Good luck.

Aha, fair enough.
Happy to take any advice in learning this kind of thing. It's a steep learning curve for me, always wanted to be able to do it, this was just the first opportunity that arose. It is a strange platform, at least from what I've seen so far from what I've done.
Youtube is currently my main source for learning, so I guess that says a fair bit aha.
Essentially I want to setup a general front page, with a tab to "Videos" which has a drop down to the numerous youtube series that I have been working on, and wouldn't mind incorporating some forum software too, Simple Machines or vBulletin maybe.. (That's a long way down the line though.
Still trying to get the core structure of the pages to be at an acceptable level.
A website shouldn't take this long to load in 2014.
