Ive became in a really bad habit of using my card lately.

Like I took £10 out to get the bus and was going to use the change for a McDoanlds but instantly used my card instead, what was a bit stupid.

Cash because there's no point using my card if I have cash :P. But having said that, today I put almost all my cash in the bank so I shall be using my card whenever possible really.

Mostly card. I try to pay with my card even when I have money as I just don't wanna get rid of it :P

I tend to pay for most things with my debit card, and then when things are getting tight before payday I move onto the credit card! :D

Very rarely use cash unless I know im going somewhere where you can't pay by card

am I the only person who simply never uses debit card unless it's an online transaction?

Usually cash if at college and I have a certain amount to spend every week, during the summer I have a fair bit saved up so I'll probably use my card. :)

Always, always card.

Why are so many people against using their cards? I thought it'd be the obvious answer, but everyone seems to prefer cash?

scottish

I've always used cash and always prefer to use cash, don't see the point in using card if I have cash, which I always do :P

I've always used cash and always prefer to use cash, don't see the point in using card if I have cash, which I always do :P

But do you not need to go to the cash machine to withdraw cash? That adds an extra step, and that step can have significant issues (People seeing your pin, card/cash being stolen, cash machine not working).

The only place I've ever made a conscious effort to get cash out to pay was at my Uni's shop since any card purchases have to be over £5.

Cash. As much as i can

scottish
26-06-2014, 08:20 PM
Yes, once a month or so I go to bank and get money.

Using a card in a shop has the same risks (people seeing your pin, card/cash being stolen, etc too?)

My cash machine works 100% not once in the past 10+ year has it not worked, if it doesn't there's about 4 others in the same town I can use :P or go inside and withdraw it through the counter.

Kardan
26-06-2014, 08:23 PM
I've never actually gone inside a bank and deposited/withdrawn money ever, so that didn't even cross my mind.

I suppose there's the same risks with using a card, what I primarily meant was the cash machine fraud, but I guess that's bypassed if you go into the actual bank.

26-06-2014, 08:26 PM
Aren't all banks checked for that now? I'm pretty sure the staff check it each morning lol and you can see through the window where it's at if anyones trying anything when they're working.

but yeah I always cover my hand when entering pin anyway :P

Kardan

Banks might check their cash machines each morning, but I'm not so sure about the cash machines that aren't on the side of a bank :P

I used to use cash all the time because I never got over when my card got declined in a shopping centre

but I worked up the courage to start trying to use it again and it hasn't failed me yet so I think I just got my pin wrong that one time lmao

Also, when I have physical cash, takeaways happen a lot easier haha

my debit card mainly, there's not a lot of atms outside of the main town bit here, difficult to get the old cash out.

Depends mostly on whether I'm trying to refrain from spending, but it's usually card. I can't stand having cash on me and I forget I have it. I've literally had £33 (in change) in my work bag for about three months so I don't have to carry it around myself; and all of it has come from change through being denied the ability to use card and having to withdraw from the nearest ATM.

Surely it's just if not even easier to buy crap with a card and you have a lot more money on you (assuming you have more in bank than cash)..

Always card unless I am out drinking in which case I'll get the cash out and leave card at home as I quickly become too generous.

I'm shocked so many people prefer cash..

Always card unless I'm going out where cash is easier. I will withdraw money for larger purchases over £100 as they tend to take a few days to come out of the bank and I tend to forget what I've bought, think I've got £100+ more than what I have, spend more money and then end up short :[ Cash withdrawals show up instantly on my statements so that's easier.

I often use paypal so i guess if there was another option i would have put online banking.
