That's not through apple because it costs far too much...
I've managed to crack/smash my screen and I don't know wether to wait until I go back to college and maybe get my screen fixed for free, I don't know if they'll still do it for free as I'm not sure if the warranty is still valid, or go to one of those small shops you see that look a bit dodgy but do it for a cheaper price than apple.

The reason I'd go through college is because I bought it through their iPads scheme because I needed one for one of my lessons so I think there is some sort of warranty in place on all the iPads but they were bought in bulk so idk

Jurv; Thats basicually saying your never allowed to fix an apple product due to it being apply property.

I think wait until you go back to college but in the meantime inquire other places just in case college can't fix it for you.

Look at them shops that are cheap and look dodgy as you put it, I can guarantee you will find somewhere online that do reviews on the shop, read up on the places then go from there.

Honestly I find even the dodgy looking shops can be quite pricey, but obviously nothing compared to Apple themselves

I don't actually know if I'm paying money to apple or the sixth form themselves I don't think it was ever specified but I think some people have got the screen fixed without going through college I dunno

i think I'm going to look round a few places and see if it's worth it and when I get back to college I'll ask them if their able to get it fixed for free :')

You have to realise, if you go to a cheap shop and get it fixed, if something else goes horribly wrong with it, such as the battery life just... Going poof (100%-0% in like 10 minutes (happens sometimes)) - Apple won't fix the problem.

In a nutshell, if you get it done by a cheap company, Apple will not fix, replace or even give advice (depending on how stubborn the shop is) on anything to do with your iPad ever again.
