The HxF Mole 3 - Task 7: Hidden Connections

[Kardan]

For this task, you will need to find hidden connections. There are 14 different connections for you to find.

We will start looking for each connection when a contestant posts ‘New connection’ in bold. Once we are looking for a connection, you must wait until that connection is revealed before we start looking for another one.

Each contestant may only post ‘New connection’ once, meaning you will need all contestants online to find all connections.

To find a connection you will initially be given two phrases. These two phrases are linked by the hidden connection.

Take this example:


Hidden Connection #1:
First Phrase: Q
Second Phrase: W


You will win points if you are able to identify the hidden connection, and if you are able to correctly predict the fifth phrase. You are only allowed ONE GUESS per hidden connection. At this point you may take a guess by posting an answer in bold (and one other contestant will need to confirm this guess by quoting and saying confirm in bold) or you may ask for another phrase (this too needs to be posted in bold and confirmed by another contestant).

You will be given the third phrase. You may guess at this point or ask for the fourth phrase. After the fourth phrase there are no more phrases to be given. You must guess the fifth phrase and the hidden connection at this point.

So, our example may play out as follows:

First Phrase: Q
Second Phrase: W
Third Phrase: E
Fourth phrase: R


The fifth phrase would be T as the hidden connection is they are the first 5 letters of the standard QWERTY keyboard.

You will earn points based on how well you do. For every hidden connection you find, you will earn a point. You will then earn points based on how quickly you found the 5th phrase. If you find the 5th phrase after the first two phrases have been revealed, you win 3 points. If you find the 5th phrase after the first three phrases have been revealed, you win 2 points. And if you find the 5th phrase after the first four phrases have been revealed, you win a point.

This means there’s 4 points available per hidden connection and 56 points available in total.

There are a total of 20 days of VIP available for the group prize fund, and you will win this if you get 40 points or more. To win 19 days, you need 38 points, for 18 days you need 36 points etc. all the way to getting 1 day of VIP if you get 2 points.
