It's taking place right now on BBC... via the live link across Great Britain http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-scotland-28927917

For the small part i've seen so far, admire the passion Darling is showing for the Unionist cause. I've thought for a long while that the Unionist campaign has been too focused on scaremongering.

Anybody else watching? I'll put polling up afterwards.

Inseriousity.

I had to turn it off, I was actually getting angry that they just kept shouting over each other and I can't even vote!

Guardian ICM poll -

Salmond – 71%

Darling – 29%

Sample of 500+

Darling impressed me near the end, although at the very end - the closing statement - he flunked it. Instead of looking at the cameras like Salmond and making a patriotic case for Britain, he wittered on about currency unions and kept looking down at his papers. A shame.

It means who people thought the winner of the debate was, but since you don't believe in scientific polling it shouldn't interest you too much. ;)

What on earth has Ukip got to do with Scottish independence and why do you keep mentioning it?

In any case, Scots went and voted for a Ukip MEP in May. Too bad but I guess all Scots don't think exactly like you do.

If you wanted to be really technical and argue the piss over it, he's classed as British in nationality as that is what his passport says.

I'm all for referendums on most of the main issues.

I'd likely win on immigration, the Union, the EU, death penalty and foreign policy.

And i'd probably lose on the NHS, Trident, nationalisation and Environmentalism.

I've no problem admitting which issues i'm aligned with the public on and which ones i'm not. I read polls daily, after all. :P

I watched the debate, and worth noting that I'm not Scottish, (so my opinion means nothing) but I want Scotland to stay. I was hoping that Darling would be better than he was, so that was quite a shame. I also thought the "fairly represented audience" seemed to be a lot more in favour of Salmond, but he didn't impress me much either.

To be fair, he doesn't have a Plan B. It's all about the Pound. But I don't understand Salmond's reasoning at all. If they enter a currency union, they still won't be in charge of things economy related, the Bank of England will. So how is that gaining independence? And if they don't enter a currency union, defaulting on their debt doesn't sound very good (and sounds even worse for England/Wales/NI).

And it's all fair and good saying the pound is as much Scotland's as it is the rest of the UK, but surely the same applies to the oil?

I must say though, the polls afterwards are frightening. I must say it's the first time I've actually thought that 'Yes' has a chance of winning.

It would still be independent though, currency wise you'd still be tied to Bank of England.

There's quite a difference between currency and natural resources our country gather/collect though.

Yes/No has always been 50/50 or close to it, hasn't it?

Hopefully more up to date poll results soon but the latest ones were earlier this month, so seems about 10-15% undecided, then about 10% more for No.
