***pls do not move this thread into into the 'other' entertainment forum, i do not tend to look there***

do u read a lot? what do u read?

doing eng lit at a level and the woman scared me @ interview by saying you need to read a lot and she doesnt read in class so itll be independent reading a lot. by the sounds of it everyone that will sign up for her class will be really big readers and im scared im gna fall behind instantly lol.

so for the next 11 days i am going to have my own reading fest and try and get through all of the books i always buy from waterstones purely to display on the bookshelf lol... i have a habit of book shopping i really like it and would prefer it over clothes shopping lol

I don't read a lot but I do like to read books. I'm into murder mysteries mainly.

Yes. I read Frankenstein this year and absolutely loved it so I've started battling through Dracula, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, etc. Really enjoying them! Plus I've just started the first Game of Thrones so I'll have to wade through those as well :P

In general, I'll read anything really. I can't stand Young Adult fiction anymore though. I used to be the first in there when the next Hunger Games was coming out or whatever, but now the characters' attitudes just make me so bored because they're all just copies of each other. Authors either go down the hopeless, useless Bella Swan route or down the strong, independent Katniss Everdeen route. Haven't seen anything original from YA in so long now :(

I like going to the bookshop and just browsing anywhere; I'll quite happily spend an afternoon down there. I've found the best way to find a new book is to pick up something I'd never normally think of and give the blurb a go anyway. That's how I discovered my favourite book (When God Was a Rabbit, if you're interested).

I read all the time yeah books are fantastic, the teacher's prob lying if she says there won't be in-class reading though because quite frankly A level Eng lit isn't deep enough for there to be enough work to do in class without wasting a bit of time with group reading

I read every single day, but if we're talking strictly about books, then mainly just every now and then when a book I'm interested in is released. Although I'm about to start on my massive reading list for Uni next year, which is strange, because I've never had a reading list before, so not entirely sure how that's going to go.

I read the whole Alex Rider series years and years ago but since I finished them I've never found a series that interests me. I really don't read that much at all, unless I have to for school.

I used to read every single day but now I only do it if i am bored. We dont have many books at my house and the local library doesnt have a very good selection of the genre i want. When i go back to college i will probably get a few out but more to help me revise for my a levels.

I read daily. Articles mostly but every few days I like to delve back into some of my favourite books. Love a good crime thriller series - hannibal, alex cross, jack reacher. sadly james patterson books are in my parents' loft so I haven't had a chance to reread them in a long time and I can't afford to buy the 2-3 newest ones! poverty is real :( yes for english lit you will have to read quite a bit but no more than the average reader really, it's more about paying closer attention when you do read.

Not nearly enough as I should. I Have a list of all the things I want to read but I always seem to put it off and do other things instead.

I'd really recommend The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.

Have you read anything by Lovecraft?

I love reading, I'm usually reading 2 or 3 books at one time. I really like horror, historical fiction, and scifi type books.

i don't read much, i wish i would, but i never seem to remember books very well. i've read a few books that are of some films (thg, silver linings playbook, tfios [boo], perks of being a wall flower, etc.) and various comics.

when i read, it's mostly educational stuff. like i read through media, film, sociology and psychology related books. soo i've read books on; film critics, psych 101, intros to media and film, cinematography, film noir or just specifics, like a few books on fight club or the theories within it.

so i don't read many books, but i read a HELL OF A LOT of articles.

We all read a lot. We're on the internet.
Anyway, fiction books where my speciality. I don't read much apart from online. Most of it is conspiracy theories. It helps pass the time.

I can't remember the last non-fiction piece I read though.

In terms of sitting down to read a book- I hate reading. It takes so long, and so unless it's a really gripping piece of fiction (ie: Harry Potter!) then I don't like to read and I avoid it as often as I can.

For uni I've just had to read heaps of non-fiction and I wasn't really excited by it, it seemed more of a chore.

I like to read things on the internet, I learn more by doing that :P

I used to read all the time, not so much anymore which is a shame as I used to love getting lost in the pages of great books.
