If Scotland leaves the United Kingdom, can or should the rest hold together?

With little more than a few weeks to go until the Scottish independence referendum takes place - with postal voting forms now being sent out and sent back - although polling has Scotland due to stay in the United Kingdom, the question remains what if the unthinkable happens? For over 300 years, the Union of Scotland and England has formed the basis of Great Britain and the Union, with Wales being a mere Principality of England since the 1300s and Ireland historically being separate in government.

If Scotland does leave, what do you think will happen to Great Britain in terms of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland? Can these pieces possibly hold together? Will Welsh nationalism seize the chance and begin pushing for Welsh independence within the next decade? Will Northern Ireland begin to view a future integrating into the Republic of Ireland? Will English nationalism rise across the land to demand an English parliament?

What do you think? If you are Welsh or Northern Irish, if Scotland leaves would you too consider independence? If you are English, would you consider the possibility of an independent Kingdom of England dissolving the United Kingdom?
