The Queen is set to become the longest ever reigning monarch in British history next year.

On September 9 2015, she will pass the record set by her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria.

Queen Victoria came to the throne aged 18 and died in 1901 when she was 81.

Buckingham Palace have calculated she reigned for 23,226 days, 16 hours and 23 minutes over 63 years.

But Elizabeth II, who became Queen aged 25 in 1952, is set to enter the history books when she overtakes Victoria next September.

However, it is likely to be business as usual for the Queen when she reaches the landmark date at the age of 89.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: "The Queen traditionally spends the month of September at Balmoral. Next year is unlikely to be any different."

The Queen is already in the record books after becoming the longest living monarch.

According to Guinness World Records, she also holds the world record for most currencies featuring the same individual.

Pretty cool, only a year to go now.

Let's hope her main realm (Great Britain) is still intact by then. :(

Thoughts?

I wonder if she ever gets bored being the Queen.

That's quite an impressive achievement for her! She's doing really well for her age too.

with all due respect to your queen, it's gonna be so weird when she passes away and you'll have a king ruler

It'll be weird saying king rather than queen, but she has done very well - not that the royal family really do anything anyway.

Agreed, I think it was Andrew Marr (republican turned monarchist - or Paxman who is the same) who made the point that it's strange how constitutional monarchy is supposed to guarantee stability and continuation... which it does, but at the same time when you have a monarch who has reigned so long it's hard to imagine it any different. A strange paradox really. :P

Oh they actually do a lot.. and they're not just ribbon cutters as most people seem to think.
