How do you feel on smoke?
Do you hate being around people who smoke, or don't you mind it?
Do you smoke yourself or not?
If so, did you do it due to friends and such doing it and followed them or other reasons?

Hate it with a passion, always have. I literally love the smoking ban and being able to eat out without having someones smoke waft over to you!! It's not just that it smells awful, my throat and eyes always hurt if I am in it for too long. After a fam party, I will literally come home with bloodshot eyes because of it.

smoking and drinking go hand in hand and both are more fun when done together

I haven't smoked, and when I say never I mean never - i've never even tried it out of principle.
That said, I am sick to the back teeth of people making a song and dance about other people smoking, including the government, as there are loads of vices out there and if people enjoy a smoke in their day then who the hell is anybody to interfere in that anymore than I have the right to decide what colour curtains you should have or what you get up to in your bedroom. My body my choice, as pro-abortion people tell us constantly.

inb4 Undertaker quotes me and tries to tell me how much of a horrible person I am.
I absolutely hate smoking. At least, I hate the smell of smoking. I've never smoked, not even tried one, (I don't think I've even held one), but pretty much my whole family smoked. But over time, they've all given up - except my Dad. He still smokes. So for the last 20 years or so, I've had to deal with second hand smoking (I remember going on long car journeys, e.g to the seaside, were absolute death traps, having both parents smoking with the windows closed), so I do wonder how much damage that has caused me.
I think the smoking ban is superb, if only certain places didn't put their smoking areas right outside the front door, so you have to wade through the smoke to get in. I also dislike going to the city centre, because so many people are just strolling around, blowing smoke into your face.
So, quite obviously, I hate being around people who smoke, but luckily these days, hardly anybody does. In fact, I can't name any friends that smoke.

People where you live walk up and blow smoke into your face? What a strange place you live in.

Luckily I don't live in Leicester City Centre, so I don't have to put up with it very often :P

I hate smoking and dislike being around people when they're having one. It smells awful and it does nothing for your health.

I don't hate smoking, I just hate smoking in public places.
If smoking just damaged you then I wouldn't mind it, but it's the fact it damages the people around you too. It is NOT okay to light a cigarette at a bus stop and force the people queuing around you to breathe in the disgusting smoke just because you decided you fancy one.
It's even worse when I see people smoking around children. It's totally selfish and I'm disgusted to see parents smoking near their toddler. If they could physically see the damage they could be causing to their child, perhaps they'd think differently.
Oh wait edit: whatever u do in your own time is fine though. If you wanna smoke with friends who are all okay with it, go ahead. Just don't do it near anyone you haven't asked.
i don't smoke and i don't care if people do
do whatever you want just don't force it in my face

For people that smoke whilst drinking, is it because of social smoking (Don't want to be left out), or is it because of the alcohol in general?
I had a friend that did "social smoking", except that in the social group we went out with - nobody smoked. So he was out in the smoking area, alone. So it was like anti-social smoking. It was strange, because he never smoked at all when he hadn't been drinking.

for me it's just a conditioned response. i have a drink and something in my brain says HAVE A SMOKE. it's the same when i eat certain foods/amount of foods but smoking with people is much more enjoyable than smoking alone (for me). i rarely smoke alone.
I hate the smell it makes me feel sick

yeah i smoke, started because i was 16 and it was legal back then so yeah, i enjoy it
I smoke around 20 a day, I did stop for around 2 weeks this summer. I want to stop but we have 2 smoking shelters at college so its really hard and I can buy 50g of baccy for £5 because its imported from abroad.

alone alone or just alone in terms of the group he went with? I wouldn't stand in a smoking area alone but I would stand and chat to people who do smoke.
no I don't smoke, I think it's a waste of money. couldn't care less about smells/etc, there are worse things to live with.

i smoke but you have to have that level of respect
if you want to poison yourself then don't poison others around you. i always smoke away from people e.g, at the bus stop i will move well away, my bus stop is in front of a primary school so if it's their play time i don't smoke, i hate people who blow smoke in people's faces - don't do it, it's rude.
i hate the after taste of cigarettes but i generally enjoy having one myself, as long as you respect others who chose not to then it shouldn't be a problem

If i'm offered one on a night out i'll take it but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a packet. You can't hear people inside clubs so if you're trying to chat to someone and get to know them the smoking area is your best bet.

Nobody with the group went with him, but I would assume he would speak to the people also smoking. He seemed like that sort of person. So that's still social smoking I guess.

used to during some school days
i dont care about being around it, when i did smoke i always went out the way to avoid it going near people because nobody wants second hand smoke in their faces.
i used to smoke about 10/20 a day but i gave up about 4 months ago now, started smoking because i saw my mum use it to help her relax so i followed & then quit because my main friend group all gave up and i joined in

I do smoke regularly since the age of 13 . At the time I had a few friends who were over age to buy the cigarettes for me and once I turned 18 I was able to buy my own cigarettes. I know it is not bad and so is second hand smoke that other people breath. I always say, I will take the consequences. I have seen many people smoking all their lives and never had any heath problems because of cigs so it depends really.
Though I do not recommend anyone to start smoking.

dont smoke and dont plan on it ! smells disgusting and don't want to mess up my lungs and all the other awful side effects it comes with
Not keen on smoking, I hate the smell and it makes everything smell!! If you do it in such a way that not everything you own smells of smoke then I guess I don't mind it. No one in my family smokes apart from my Auntie and Uncle. I don't smoke.

i used to smoke when i was around 16/17, gave up because i just didnt enjoy it anymore! i dont mind people smoking around me, unless i dont feel the best (which is quite a lot). i always ask my bf to give up smoking because i cant stand the after smell when im kissing him cus it's just vile!
oh yeh i sometimes smoke when im out drinking! altho, i still get cravings sometimes too

I don't chain smoke, neither do I smoke when I'm drinking. I enjoy a cigarette every now and again, especially when I'm stressed is when I tend to smoke more often - I find it's a great stress reliever.
Having said that, I hate the way it lingers on some people, and whenever I do smoke I always wash my hands thoroughly and chew gum or something to get rid of the taste, I don't like smelling of anything bad!
I have quite a few friends who hate smoking - my best friend actually hates it so much it's the biggest argument we ever had (he was so angry...) - so I just do it away from them. But because I never feel like I 'need' a cigarette it's easier to just not have one and do it when they're not around.
I've also had exes who hated smoking and I lied about giving it up to them. They never noticed.
Inseriousity.

I've never smoked and I never will but I don't mind other people smoking. My dad smokes like a chimney and despite attempts to stop hasn't lasted more than 2 months. I'm not too fussed about the smoking ban because the places where that's likely to be the worst are not places I frequent often if ever. I suppose because I've been around it my whole life, walking into a room full of smoke, I don't notice it.

It's a nasty habit I used to have, though I don't mind if people smoke around me or being around those who smoke.
