Hey Everyone,
A while back I sent out a thread here (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=813806), asking about why you spend time on habbo, etc. What I had done was I took a bit of research as well and I compiled it into an article.
The Article can be found here (http://habbox.com/#!/News/article/2219). Thanks for reading!

If you are reading this, chances are you are either on your computer, laptop, iPad, or phone. Which means you are already one step into this virtual world called the internet than the person next to you. Oh wait, chances are you probably do not have anyone beside you. If I were to say that you were Addicted how would you react? Chances are is that your response would be denial, and disgust that I would even use that word.
Why would I use that word to describe what is going on!
While we sit here at our computers, we are becoming more and more disconnected with the real world around us. But what are we running from? If at all, are we running? Maybe in your case it is a safe haven for you to be yourself. Expressing yourself in a certain way that you may not be able to in the real world.
I have had the privilege of asking users of this forum on why they use Habbo, and if they use it as a disconnect from real life. Which you can read the responses here (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=813806). It overwhelmed me to see the amount of people who were open enough to tell their story in a few sentences. There were three things that stood out the most;
The First being their Real friends had introduced them to the virtual world. I have to admit that that is how I was first introduced into virtual worlds such as Habbo, World of Warcraft, and League of Legends. It had seemed as though those who responded has had this exact scenario for their first experience joining the virtual world .Unfortunately once their friend(s) were done with it, the addictive personality caused them to stay. What is an Addictive personality you ask? There are a couple things to consider when talking about Addictive Personalities. It may even reveal to you that you also have an addictive personality. Mentally you are anxious, and/or suffer from depression, and stress. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is another characteristic that you may have with your personality. Now, just because I say those "symptoms", I wouldn't necessarily say you have an addictive personality, but I would say that you may have a tendency. http://habbox.com/assets/images//2014/09/14/79acfb.png
The Second thing the people who had responded noted was that their confidence was really low due to many situations regarding School or Family matters. Each person struggled with something totally different than the next person. With this, I have determined that people use virtual worlds to bring a sense of confidence back in themselves that they may not necessarily find in Real life situations. Either from lashing out at those who they do not know on the internet, or by becoming involved in an online relationship (Which I'm sorry, I'm not going into detail with this, because it could be a whole article by itself). The lack of confidence I believes comes down to the nature vs. nurture. (Which I will state my opinion because again, the Nature vs. Nurture debate could be a whole article by itself). When you look at a youth who have grown up with parents always telling them that they were doing wrong, and that they wouldn't amount to anything. Chances are that person will grow up with no confidence in their work, or their life. To look on the nature side of things; Human beings are meant for interaction. When we lack interaction, we lack the ability to build confidence up, thus depleting the outcome on our life. Again, we are meant for change, change is what makes us grow mentally, emotionally and physically.
The third point that everyone touched on is that there is a way out! Again, I make it sound like it's a trap and that everyone has fallen into this, but haven't we though? Our whole lives we are finding out who we are and becoming the best at who we can be. Whether it be through a Job, or a Marriage- Our outcome predicts who we are. I believe that all those who use internet and virtual games as a place to escape from reality can truly overcome those fears that they have.
Chances are, this is you. You are sitting in front of your computer screen wondering if you will ever amount to your dreams... My answer is yes! You have to want it though. Determination begins with a single step and if you are willing to break that, you can do it!
What do you feel about disconnecting yourself with games such as Habbo, or other virtual games (i.e - Sims, League of Legends, World of Warcraft?)
