I knew that thread title would attract you, bunch of perverts haha.
Sam Pepper posted a video 'prank' the other day which got a lot of people annoyed. A number of youtubers tweeted out how he isn't a comedian and that he physically assaulted these girls.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0LtTFbin6c
Do you think he was completely out of order or was this just a bit of seamless fun that is being blown out of proportion? Would people act the same way if it was a girl doing this prank on a guy? If not then why?
My View:
Looking at the video for the first time I just found it a little cringe but that's normal for me watching his videos. After hearing everyone go crazy on twitter, my first thoughts were that everyone was overreacting. Replaying the video again I focused on the reactions, a lot of the girls looked uncomfortable but after he revealed it was a prank they hugged him and just went on there way. The reason I'm posting this is because although I seen a few females reply through twitter / youtube defending him.

I think it's unacceptable. That's essentially sexual assault as you're inappropriate touching a lady.
Would be the same if it was a female doing it to a male (although it would probably be viewed as 'not as bad')
I'm surprised none of them turned around and slapped him (or worse)

I'm okay with it. I didn't exactly like it or dislike it. However if I were one of the girls I wouldn't like it even if it was a prank. I guess the video was okay though.
People would probably react different if it were a girl. I'm just guessing though.
No I don't care who you are don't touch people without their consent ok Richie

I'm sure he tried this on a number of girls and they were flops so he didn't show them in the video

It might be assault by the legal definition of the word, but no way in hell would he ever be convicted of anything. I'd say it's people just blowing things out of proportion and to me, it would only turn into something bigger if the other people explicitly told him not to or he was excessively doing it to an individual.

Can't stand Sam Pepper anyway and don't agree with it at all. It's just a rule that you don't touch people you don't know, give them an acceptable amount of space, etc. Would be the same if a girl was doing it to a guy. It's just not something you do IMO. creeps me out

it's unacceptable. i don't know how anyone could begin to justify that as being ok... it kind of adds to that thread i made about how some men are in public, just disgusting. these girls reactions may have been ok and they managed to see the "funny" side which is just brill for them but honestly it's vile and i don't know why you'd be such an idiot and be so disgusting for the sake of viewers and attempt to be funny it isn't funny
anypbe that genuinely laughs at this video and finds it funny needs to re think a lot
i think his hair is the worst part of the video

i didn't watch it all, but even through his editing you can tell that he obviously got a really bad reaction to it from all the people he tried it out on, the first girl clearly states numerous times 'that's not okay'

abit too far
he sometimes does pranks with some of the big youtube pranksters who get arrested on a weekly basis but they don't even do **** like that. Don't think anyone wants sexual assault on their criminal record except him i guess

this tbh. you literally don't touch anyone unless they have given you consent to do it. you just don't do it!!!!
He's trying really bad to get attention.
Although a majority of the girls saw the funny side to it, I'd have really loved for one of their boyfriends to come up and punch him, to teach him not to being doing that to random chicks. It is taking advantage of girls and I don't think it's right to be doing it all in the hope of getting views on Youtube??? The fact he did it more than once to some of them was kind of over the top too.
Mind you everyone does this nowadays, i've seen some on Facebook of guys running round naked asking for phone numbers and moving their hand so that the girls get a view of everything ..... all in the hope they become e-famous. If they had some kind of moral message that was actually spreading awareness of sexual harassment then maybe it would be different, but people like him are just idiots.

I can't stand the guy, but you have to think, YouTubers need permission off every person they interact with while filming a "prank" video, or anything in the public for that matter, meaning he would have had to explain afterwords; Who he was, what he did, why he did it etc...
Although, all that said, It's still inappropriate and if the police did see the video, they probably could do something about it lmfao.

Pretty disgusting thing to do tbh, I know some people might think it's an over reaction but grabbing someone like that regardless of their gender is wrong and pretty disturbing.
He shot himself in the foot big time with this, hes lost backing from major sponsors and been barred from going to future vidcons.
Its not right, people on youtube saying "calm down its a prank" made me question their morals. Regardless if it was a prank or not, he violated their space and rights and thats totally out of order

yeah it does, i'm sure he will gain more through exposure of the video than his supposed 'sponsors' that have left him
the best thing google can do is remove the video and refuse to give him the money for the views for it, although i doubt they can even do that

I think it's unacceptable but of course there'll be a lot of people out there (including women) that won't mind it at all. But it's still unacceptable--I can guarantee there's a lot of bad reactions he's cut out.
Oh and looks like the video has been removed by youtube for sexual content.

He's trending again, he posted a part 2 of the same thing but doing it to men
It was removed pretty quickly this time, well done sam

well its idiots like this that make some people think its okay to treat women like that, I cannot see funny side at all. If that was my friend, sister, cousin whatever - I'd break his arm. I just don't understand how anybody could find it funny and the problem is its just going to encourage some people to do it
Had this been him grabbing men's asses or a woman grabbing men's asses then it would not have garnered him nearly as much discontent as this. The women are clearly uncomfortable with it, of course, but they have given permission after the fact to be featured in the video. There's no doubt that he missed the mark completely with his comedy, as he normally does, and that comments saying that it's not okay are completely warranted, but the bandwagon is filling up very very fast over something done with no malicious intention.
Give the guy a break. He's an idiot, not a rapist.

he made a third video saying it was all scripted
lmao was it act or is this like his coverup??? He seems convincing anyway. I agree with what he is saying, people are just more touchy when its a woman because it happens so bloody often, along with women's position historically. This would fit nicely into our recent gender thread lmao.

i don't buy it for a second, he goes on to say that his friend was abused by a woman and that was why he did it
if that was the case, he would have put the video of the woman pinching the guys ass first

He's a vile piece of dirt for slightly inappropriately touching people? It's not like he's ruined their lives by any means. Stop making a mountain out of a mole hill.
He has done both but the female video was posted first. If the male video was posted alone then the scales would hve been tipped much further the opposite way. Men are allowed to be sexual objects, women are not...

no i completely disagree, there would have been the exact same reaction had he uploaded the men being 'assaulted' first
the reaction by some was slightly over the top yeah, but if someone came up to me in the street and pinched my ass not once but TWICE for a 'prank' i'd have no problem telling them where to go and i would be pissed off
like i said in the other thread, the shouting and cat calling/sexual remarks dont bother me, but if you touch my ass for a prank video you can **** right off. nobody is making this about womens rights, it's about an individual being inappropriately touched for no damn reason

nah I think if it was a guy being assaulted he would have got nowhere the amount of comments regarding sexual abuse (if any).

He has gone around touching people inappropriately. Sexual abuse is a serious issue, and this fool (a so-called role model to many) thinks it is acceptable to do this, then others will think the same. Of course, this is not necessarily sexual abuse (it is assault though), but you start with this, and then move on.

If anyone had a problem with it then they should report him, end of. As far as I'm concerned, this isn't for anyone else to get particularly worked up over and start some demonising of him as nothing comes from doing so. It should be left for the courts (if someone reported him) and he would get sentenced as they see fit. It's not for you or me to try and throw the law around because, let's be honest, neither of us know much about it.

By the same logic if he raped a random girl in the street, it's not for anyone else to get annoyed or start demonising him over it?
I disagree completely with your post, if someone does something stupid people will reply as they see fit, that's why comments are there as well as the like/dislike system on YouTube, and the ability to report videos and have them removed (as this has done)

Please read my post as I only use that for this particular example ;).
However, I still think demonising someone too much is bad thing as it clouds judgement. For example, when Jimmy Saville was convincted, there were a few "celebrity" cases not long after and a lot of people just instantly assumed they were guilty. Basically, there's a point where it just becomes too much.

He is a youtube 'celebrity', and I think we are therefore all entitled to comment on his content whether good or bad. It comes as part of the job.
If I can say he does wonderful work and he is a very kind, loving person then I am also entitled to say his work is terrible and that he is a despicable, vile person.

This isn't really my main response, but commenting on his content isn't the same as commenting on him as a person. A ******** can produce good content and a wonderful person can produce crap content.
My point isn't that you should have no opinion whatsoever, just stop making it out more than it is/might actually be.
I should point out also that I have never watched any of his videos before and I only heard his name in passing.

I looked into him more as this came up, and made my judgement based on that. He doesn't exactly have a stellar record before now, also an ex-contestant on Big Brother (the thing that started his fame crawl).
I feel, as others do, entitled to comment on him both as a person and his content (his content ultimately influenced by him as a person), and shall continue to do so.

i don't think anyone has over reacted at all
sam pepper is a vile person for thinking this would be 'funny' to even film let alone upload. he's now coming up with the whole 'it was fake' 'it was all scripted' 'i did it to raise awareness' ******** when in reality if everyone did find it funny like he STUPIDLY expected then he would be proud of it and be making jokes about it by now. sam pepper is a coward to now try and find any excuse possible to try and justify this disgusting behaviour. it's surprising so many people are taking it lightly, he is scum and it really isn't acceptable at all to be doing **** like this especially when you have quite a big following and people are looking up to you as a role model (his younger subscribers) and having it being made out like doing this is 'ok' what a ******* idiot
The reactions from his victims range from shocked faces to nervous laughs, to a woman who leaps a good few metres away.
We wouldn't expect this behaviour from a school boy, let alone a fully grown man.
However, the internet isn't taking it lying down. Sam is receiving numerous unsubscribes from his YouTube channel, with many former fans demanding that he removes the video.
He's also been banned from pretty much every YouTube convention going and fellow YouTube stars including John and Hank Green and Tyler Oakley have condemned his actions
