I'm sorry but as tragic as it is I really do not understand Britons, Americans or French going over to these type of countries because this is how they repay you for helping them and their people - with hatred and evil. Even harder to understand is when the people in question have a family and yet they still risk it all: and what a huge risk it is that usually doesn't end well. Stay away at all costs from these hell holes on Earth.
RIP.

Alan Henning wasn't the only aid worker. Aid workers are incredibly common and the response from many Muslims and citizens of these countries have been in support of Alan Henning and against ISIS which misuse the teaching of the prophet. Henning was treated with respect in these countries. Unfortunately, idiots like those in ISIS have proven that they are beyond salvation and are pure evil. It's like the Saudi Arabian girl who came to my University and was stabbed to death, and Saudi Arabian people saying "Why on earth did she come to that hell hole? The United Kingdom is an ungrateful and evil place." The actions of the few do not speak for the mouths of the many.

In fairness, he did go out there long before this whole crisis really blew up. Although I do also agree with the latter bit about leaving family behind to what is - and was when he left - a war torn country.

RIP to those who have been brutally murdered.
However, I'd suggest that they're just 'barricaded off' and let them kill each other - sending our own people over there will only cause more casualties.

Get off my high horse? That's ironic considering you've just put on a huge display of motherhood and apple pie for us all there.
Nobody denies he was obviously an incredibly kind man who was only going to help people, but the fact remains that for people to still be going over to these places knowing the danger they are in (as well as putting our troops and special forces in danger when they are in need of rescue) being westerners it's incredibly naive: and especially when they have young families. I am sure the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has already advised on travel to these areas, but it should be made clear: get the hell out of these places.
How many more British, American and French hostages have to beheaded on camera for this to sink in to the people staying over there?
helping a community that can't help itself
A lot suggests areas of northern Iraq actually aided ISIS because of their immense loathing of the Shia Maliki government in the south of the country. Anybody who knows the basics of the situation in Iraq knows it isn't as simple as 'bad ISIS guys come along and take over'.

Because the security situation in Great Britain and the areas formerly known as Iraq/Syria are the same....
It's terrible that he died, but at least he was doing what he thought was right and being a generous fella in doing so.
Part of me really wants the UK to send ground troops into the ISIS-occupied countries... and yet part of me knows that's exactly what they want.
At any rate, ISIS will either up the ante till they have the entire world looking for their end, or it'll implode as with any organization with one leader (A caliphate or w.e) leading them all.

Simply put, ISIL will lose this war; it is just about limiting the casualties during the time it takes for the allies to win it.

Yeah, they have indeed advised against ALL travel. The only thing I would say, is that I am unsure how long these warnings have been in place; maybe the restrictions were not quite so seriously 18 months ago (that isn't to say that they weren't!)

Not sure if this video is any different, but they normally skip out the actual beheading, don't they?
