So, not too sure if anyone has read this but this is sort of a big deal in Canada right now.

Yesterday, 22 October, 2014, the city of Ottawa was under lockdown after a shooting that occurred by the statue of lost soldiers.
There has been a couple tragic deaths so far, and a couple wounded.

Apparently people are saying it's a terrorist attack. Has anyone looked into this?

From what I can gather, it's someone who was working "alone" in a mission that he had convinced himself was righteous to a cause that he'd read about and decided to align himself with, with grievous consequences all around. Another sad situation highlighting the dangers of communities (online and offline) that are weaponised and improperly controlled in terms of arms. Not religious myself but it seems a fine grace that caused only two lives to be lost in this ridiculous episode of urban warfare.

Just would like to share this post from facebook Ive seen.

Apparently, one criminal with a gun can shut down the House of Commons, the Senate, the Supreme Court, the University of Ottawa, and the entire downtown core. One criminal with a gun can send hundreds of police officers from every department into the streets to lock-down a city. One criminal with a gun can put helicopters and planes in the sky, snipers on the roofs, armoured vehicles at the steps of parliament. One criminal with a gun can force our MPs into hiding, our Prime Minister to flee the Parliament and our children locked into their classrooms. One criminal with a gun can force us to spend untold millions of dollars in overtime and other costs related to the operation. One criminal with a gun can panic the nation.
One criminal with a gun.

This same criminal will have our Canadian Freedom and Rights slowly dissolved if the Harper Gov't has its way.

I myself am not afraid. This is not some planned thing from ISIS. It is merely a copy-cat killer, inspired to do so because of the news highlighting the anti-hero the day before who ran over two soldiers.

Inseriousity.

This is interesting cos only the other week in hxhd, two canadians were happily saying that extremism wasn't a huge problem for them and they don't need to worry. Not saying this means they have to now but when I read this story, I was reminded of that conversation.

Reddit has been making a big deal of this, mainly because the victim who was killed was named before the killer, that's rare nowadays and really nice.

It's not an ISIS thing either way, the killers mum was saying how she met him a week or two ago, first time in 5 years, and he seemed like "he didn't fit in". I believe he went to a mosque as well, where people also thought he was strange.

Well the Harper gov't and most of the news outlets like to state this is a terrorist attack. Indeed this is no terrorist attack, this is just an mentally unstable man with a gun who decided to shoot someone. Do you not think the choice of weapon for an actual terrorist attack would be something other than a car and a long gun. If not that the targets were just your run of the day average people with no politicly ties.

This who shooting is just being milked to gain support for the senseless killing in the Middle East and to take away the rights and freedoms of the Canadian population.

The victim is almost always named before the suspect.

Good to see the ******* was shot dead by the Canadian Black Rod(?).

Very lucky too, considering how Canadians - like us - are disarmed sitting ducks who are expected to crawl into a corner & cry whenever this happens.
