View Full Version : Do you believe humanity can do anything?

Do you believe that--with time--humanity will be able to do anything and conquer everything? Whether it's traveling faster than the cosmic speed limit (however we manage to do so), time travel, all sorts of technological advancements and much more?

Heck, whether or not you believe in God(s), do you believe that one day humans could become Gods themselves? Do you think there is a limit as to what humanity can achieve in time? Will there be a point where we cannot advance any more?

Many people say that as long as you can imagine it, it will be possible eventually. Do you believe that this actually is true? A lot of question marks there for you to answer...

This is assuming nothing gets in the way of humanity's future and we don't face extinction or anything similar.

I think we are capable of a lot however I never buy into the belief that somehow now we've reached the point that humanity is always going to go forwards. We're just another civilisation at our peak (America especially) which could all go horribly backwards and collapse just as the Roman, Chinese, Greek, Persian and Ottoman civilisations all did.

Just look at post-Roman period Europe with the Dark Ages. Advancement with time isn't always certain.

To be honest with the way we're going at the moment, we're more like to destroy ourselves with our own creations.

I genuinely do believe we are capable of anything but we need to change our attitude to life before we can become 'Gods' as you put it. We will never be perfect whilst we still threaten each other with nuclear weapons, we will never be perfect whilst some people chop other people's heads off in the name of religion. However if we were to work together towards the good of humanity and the sustainability of the world then why shouldn't we be able to do whatever we like?

We certainly won't travel faster than light - that's for sure.

We certainly won't travel faster than light - that's for sure.

When I said that I didn't necessarily mean traveling faster than it, but any loopholes to get around that problem meaning it won't take millions of years to travel the galaxy or even the universe.

(or at least not personally experiencing the pass of time nor being affected by it)

I personally believe that humanity will get extremely advanced. There is likely to be a limit or a point where it ends, probably.

Whether or not we will be able to travel vast distances in the universe, that's a hard question to answer. Obviously we will never be able to travel faster than the speed of light (unless there's more to it than we realize) but that doesn't mean it'll stop us. Whether it's through theoretical wormholes (if they are possible), or some other fantastic idea, we will manage it without beating the speed of light.

Gods? I can't say we'll ever become that, but I can't say it's not possible. We'll never be exactly what we imagine Gods to be, but we could be something similar in the far, far future.

We are limited by nature, God is over everything. We'll never be God, but we will be able to do everything possible in our nature limits.

I believe we will get to a point of such great advancement, it becomes our downfall.

I agree with that tbh.

I think we will get to a point where we are so advanced that it will slowly ruin everything else. In terms of technology, I think robots and machinery will take over.

I'd like to think we were capable of pretty much anything that was possible .. in time.
