Hey guys looking for a bit of help. My sister has disabilities so doesn't quite understand what not to click on the internet. Last month we removed 60 viruses off her laptop. Her laptop schedules scans but last night I noticed on her facebook she'd clicked one of those dodgy virus links and now whenever her laptop turns on it makes a clicking noise and comes up with this:

https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/10152992_1508239476118360_3887482037658436898_n.jp g?oh=1332e771836c7cdadc29c47473ca4f75&oe=5514C3B3

We can't save and exit or even get off the BIOS set up. I'm not sure what to do but we need to fix it and remove the virus if there is one, its not insured and there's no way it can go to repair as we're in debt. Is there anything we can do at all? Not sure if this is the best place to post, but worth a try. Thank you!!

when my asus was booting into bios i had to shuffle the boot order around a few times before it would work again. ensure that your harddrive is number 1 and dvd drive is #2 under "BOOT">boot option priorities

It's probably not a virus. Sounds like the either the hard drive or the CMOS is ******. If they're clicks and not beeps then it's probably the hard drive, if they're beeps then count them and check the POST code (http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm). It might be worthwhile removing the power, battery and CMOS battery from inside in order to reset everything.

I'm assuming the laptop is relatively old. Sounds like the cmos battery is dead, once you enter in the bios settings can you load windows?, if so once in windows is the time / date ******?

if its not old its unlikely to be that. I fixed a lappy last year that was having similar problems, the girl dropped the lappy on its side and it just wouldn't read the hard drive, all i had to do was open the panel at the back and plug the h drive back in. Easiest 20quid i ever made.

that's so weird lol I've never seen lappys like that, perhaps thats the new era and i need to catch up with tech!!

imo its a dumb design flaw the battery / charger are usually always the first thing to go for me.

scottish; me and richie were on about taking the actual battery out and holding power button for 10 secs but seems asus dont want you to do that lmao. i was gonna buy an asus for christmas but probs wont now if it doesnt have an external battery cos like we said on skype you always end up having to replace batteries anyway and chargers

i think most laptops come with a battery you can remove, it might just be that that was one very cheap laptop.

I've took the battery out of an asus before so it's not a popular asus thing to do I don't imagine.

I don't imagine they'd put it under the keyboard? :S

Yeah im gonna check the laptop i get doesnt have that, the only reason I can see them doing it is if its a cheap laptop they assume the customer would buy another laptop when the battery dies, or send it back to them to do? The battery on my current laptop gets quite hot and that's external
