So the countdown has officially begun for Christmas, so each day I will unearth some fact about Christmas!

Here's the first one:

England has only known seven white Christmases in the entire twentieth century. According to the records of the Meteorological Office in London, snow fell on Christmas Day only in 1938 and 1976.

The last time we had a White Christmas with snow falling across the UK was 2004, although large parts of the southeast England missed significant falls.

Since today is the second day of my Christmas facts, here's two!

The popular Christmas song “Jingle Bells” was actually written for Thanksgiving. The song was composed in 1857 by James Pierpont, and was originally called “One Horse Open Sleigh”.

Christmas Crackers were invented around 1846 by Tom Smith who developed them for Christmas from the French habit of wrapping sugared almonds in twists of paper as gifts.

Come back tommorow for more of my amazing Christmas facts!

are you really making a separate thread for each day?
you could just have one thread and post each new one in there...
