Hi so a group of ''Hackers'' who are actually well known for this are planning on taking the following websites / games down,

I have just finished watching a livestream where someone was in a call with the main person of this group
Their assosceated name is LizardSquad, they have successfully taken down XBL, PSN, STEAM ETC

Right so prepare for this....
Currently being threatened to be taken down:
Habbo
League of Legends
GTA 5 Servers
Destiny
Call of Duty AW
PSN
XBL

PSN and XBL are being planned to be taken down on [25th December 2014]

As i said they are supposedly going to be taking these down but it may not happen
Dont worry if it does happen because they will be caught, they already have by Microsoft, they actually sent the fbi out to get them and one of them was arrested...

Microsoft being a Federal Company they actually work in partnership with the fbi so it may not happen again with xbl
Anyway, ttyal Mark...

It would be pretty sad of them to take servers down on Xmas day, surely they have family to spend time with

Haha oh god Lizardsquad, I remember when they first appeared on the scene and caused all kinds of mayhem. For clarification though, because nobody else has done it, Lizardsquad don't "hack" these sites, they flood their network with a ton of traffic, likely using either a botnet or a bunch of stress testing servers (supposed to be used legitimately to test a networks stability).

It's commonly known as a DDoS, the site is still there but you can't access it because a billion of connections are connecting to it. Sort of like how Tesco went down on the Black Friday sales, that's because their network can't handle the traffic.

Suffice to say if they've warned them, they'll have something in place to divert the traffic. You'd hope.

As @RyRy said, best to understand your definitions of hacking.

What's the point of attacking Habbo - there's only roughly 2k people online at anytime anyway - they won't gain anything from it.

Any idiot can do a DDoS attack.... overwhelming a system with more traffic than it can handle is not hacking

Not heard this news yet but I remember not so long ago when PSN network was down they claimed it was them however another person called FamedGod on Twitter called all of them out to say it was all his work and he uploaded pictures of him on the PSN Administrator account.

If you want to read about what I was saying: http://goo.gl/I31jz8

However whether they DDoS it or not or whatever the outcome might be we'll all have to wait for the outcome.

Habbo got DDOSed by them during the past days. The threat was aimed for the three nordic hotels (.se, .no .dk).
It was barely playable due to the massive lags for almost a week.

This seems to have struck the norweigan and danish hotel pretty badly. They peak at ~85 users online.
The swedish hotel has recovered better tho, peaking at ~215 users.
