I've had something stuck in my head for about a week and i've only just realised where it came from: Mrs D, Mrs I, Mrs FFI, Mrs C, Mrs U, Mrs LTY. That spells difficulty.' ~ from Matilda
Reminded me of how I used to spell certain words I got stuck with, like I alwayssss said wednesday as "wed-nes-day" when writing and with vegetable i would say "vege table".
Oh and I taught a friend (hi sofi Sloths; x) to get loose/lose correct by saying that when you lose something, you also lose the second O.
Did anyone else use to have any weird tricks for remembering how to spell a word?
I love mnemonics. The classic is big elephants can always understand small elephants (because) but we were taught "silly uncle Fred fell over Lucy's kitten (Suffolk) in school too. Dot really have any trouble with words aside from maybe affect and effect sometimes.
In Russian the only non Cyrillic letters in the alphabet are A E O M K T so KOMETA (means comet) helps to remember those.

i used to use the wed-nes-day one too lolol. i used to mix up desert and dessert as a kid and my teacher said "you need an extra s in dessert because when you're eating it you always want 1 more" and i've remembered ever since lmao. another one i use is for 'necessary' - never eat crisps eat salad sandwiches and remain young.

From the legend that is Bruce Almighty, I still always say B-E-A-U-tiful. I also remember the Mrs D, Mrs I, Mrs FFI, Mrs C, Mrs U, Mrs LTY. However, I take it too far and recite the conversation after it too... "Why are all these women married?" etc.

Yeah I'm with Sam on the B-E-A-U-tiful thing. I think it's the only one I really use. I'm generally quite good at spelling....I think

I've heard of a lot but that's the only one I actually use when I'm writing the word. Always struggle with double letters!

I still to this day use Wed-nes-day when writing out Wednesday.
It's similar to when I spell Onomatopoeia - Ono-mato-poh-eei-ah.
I don't actively forget the spelling and have to do this, it's just something I do lol.
I still remember learning to spell mississippi. I always have to say it really fast pmsl

Unless it's albeit, atheism, Alzheimer's, caffeine, weigh(t), protein, etc. etc.

I could never spell Egypt when I was younger. So my father told me to remember it by saying. (This is going to sound weird but it's how you pronounce it) Eegeewipitee. So from that I got the Egypt.
Hope that makes sense! :P
