This is my second year working at the hotel during Christmas but the first time I have ever been down to work on Christmas Day (working in a hotel). I'm only doing the breakfast shift which isn't so bad. I don't really mind that I'm working, I think I'd actually feel bad if I wasn't.

I'm so glad I'm not working dinner, we have 167 booked.... who the **** are these people srsly go home and be with family!! :@

So yeah, do.would you work Christmas Day? Do you think it's fair for people to work Christmas Day? What would you do if your boss turned around and asked you to work Christmas?

No I work for a bank so i think nearly allll of the staff won't be working on Christmas day. i believe most of us (admin staff) work xmas eve until midday though :P

As for whether I would.. hmmm depending on the pay probably would lmao.

No I don't and I really wouldn't want to either. I guess if I didn't have anyone to go home to then I'd like to work on Christmas day, but I do.

It's usually only beneficial for people who work in hospitality to work in Christmas because people tend to tip so much more than usual. I guess te question is whether you prefer money or company :p I wouldn't work on Christmas.

I wouldn't be fussed. My brother has worked Christmas day for the past few years so we tend to do Christmas the next day anyway with the exception of last year.

I haven't worked the past 2 christmas's but I am this year. I don't mind as £12 an hour is pretty nice and we are having Xmas on Xmas eve anyway. Really busy at the hotel I work at at the minute with like close to 300 people!! [emoji26]

If the money was decent, I would. Christmas Day isn't as big a deal when you get older, I know my sister wouldn't want to because she has a little one but I can see my parents on Boxing Day. I know my dad works most of Christmas Day (hes a police officer) and he gets decent pay... So yeah, if money is good I would. :)

Well I'm getting paid double my wage. Would you lot who said depending on the pay do it for double?

i earn 7,41 an hour, so i would very happily do it for almost 15 pound p/h (so err 95 pound in a day that is?)

I don't think I'd personally like to work christmas day... I feel it's a time when we should all be at home with our families, watching tv and talking to each other having a good time, not doing our day-to-day job.

I think everywhere (apart from the emergency services and hospitals and etc) should be closed Christmas day...

I'm not working Christmas Day, paper gets shut down - I'm off on Christmas Eve as well so I can travel home. If I didn't have the 24th off I wouldn't be able to get home, and would prefer to be working to take my mind off the fact I'd be missing Christmas with my family.

However, my other 2/3 jobs (part time/freelance/zero hours contract) I'll probably do some of on Christmas morning, depending on what schedules are like around that time.

Yeah, I'd probably do it for double. Although if it was my upcoming job, I'm salaried so I think I'd just get a load of holiday time if I worked Christmas Day... But then, it's likely I'd be working on call anyway so it wouldn't be a massive deal.

No, I work in a shop so we're always shut on Christmas Day. This year, they've finally realised that hardly anyone comes in on Boxing Day so we're open 10-4. Last year it was 8:30-6 and I was in all day, most pointless thing ever. I also only had Christmas Day off last year, so it's a bit pointless just having one day off. This year I have Christmas Eve off too, in 10-4 Boxing Day, but I'm not too fussed.

I don't but would. I want to be a midwife and women don't stop giving birth at Christmas. I suppose its harder though when you have a family of your own but to me it's just like any other day

I'm not working on this Christmas day because the mall that I work in is closed for the day. But I have worked on Christmas day before.

I actually wish that my current place of work was open on Christmas Day so that I could work this year. This is my first Christmas alone (away from my friends and family), so I would welcome the distraction of working and making money.

I reckon if I had no other plans booked I'd work on Christmas. I wouldn't want to work a full day but the pay would be pretty great. As long as I had time to spend with the people I loved.

I know we don't open on xmas day but if I was asked and it gave me plenty of notice and wasn't for the whole day, I'd consider saying yes.

I hopefully won't be in a job that requires me to work Christmas Day. If I ever do have to work it then I'll just have to live with it I guess. :P

No, I never work on Christmas.
I only do some festival related work only and eat a lot.

I don't think I'll ever work somewhere I'd need to work Xmas day (not arrogance just hoping I don't end up in retail). The office is shut, and I have a lie-in owed to me.

As a nurse I normally work for Christmas except this year due to a valid reason :)

I'm working Christmas day this year and have done for the past few years. I'm an evening kitchen assistant in a care home (as a part tme thing.)

To be honest, I choose to work Christmas day. It's only from half 5 to 9 in the evening and if I didn't work Christmas day I'd have to work Christmas Eve and new years day or Boxing Day and new years eve. I would much prefer to do just the one even if it is christmas day

I wouldn't mind working Christmas day for double pay. I read a story on reddit a few months ago where a guy managed to get quadruple pay by working new-years eve and pushing his hours through a loophole into overtime.

I work at a school, so thankfully I have a very generous amount of time off during the holidays and wouldn't be asked or expected to work on Christmas Day. If I was in a different profession, I wouldn't consider it. I like to spend my Christmas' relaxing.

I wouldn't and I never have. Christmas (Day) is a time for rest and relaxation, not working.

Personally I'd work on Christmas Day but I'm not sure my family or Laura would appreciate it.

I worked in a care home and we had to work on christmas day (Obviously). All staff had to do a 4 hour shift and it was double pay. I would work just as long as i got some time to spend with family.

I worked on christmas day once, and i'd never do it again.
Even the double pay wasn't worth it. I could have cried.

Would avoid it if I was in a profession that required me to but think mine's doesn't require me to..

Would want to spend time with family even if it was part time and more pay. :(
