I'm learning German and I went on German Habbo for a while to see what it was like and se how good my conversational German was. I found it sort of helpful, Has anyone else done similar with foreign hotels?
I used habbo France briefly during a level and it was okay but I find children's tv shows to be the best for learning language cos they dumb everything down for u

Seems reasonable, I used to visit the German hotel a fair bit (had some friends on there), but a lot of the speech is obviously colloquial so be careful.

That's true, I didn't think about that I'll be honest. If I go to Germany again and they can'tunderstand me I'll know why :P

Lots of people use .COM to learn English. Just make it clear you're learning.

Look at the language used on .com by native English speakers. It's appalling so don't take anything you read too seriously.
Like Kyle said best way is to learn like a child learning their first language. Look at kids' TV and picture books and work your way up! German Habbo might help a bit later on once you've learned enough vocabulary and want to start informal conversation!

Yeah I thought this, I would never ever have considered doing what others have done/are doing haha

Out of curiosity, what TV shows did you use? I did the same a few years back in using Habbo France, but then I forgot my details and can't for the life of me seem to figure out the right e-mail address associated. Despite that, hard properly communicating on there without an AZERTY keyboard.
I'll check on Netflix right now, but any additional info would be great.

I had this problem as well, but once you've got it you know you're doing well.
All in all, I think it's perfectly do-able. I've networked with a lot of people who have used social media to strengthen their English speaking skills. I never would have known it's their second language unless they stated otherwise prior.

@Kyle lol I went through all my e-mails before I hopped back on .com and remembered that time I used twitter as my log-in.
Yay for my old account being found.

I decided to play in a Telephrase Maze on the Spanish hotel and it helped me learn basic shapes, colours and numbers a bit!

I didn't think about that but things like shapes and such are often the kinds of words that get left behind when learning a language, I think my problem is I can talk better than I can read :/
this is a very interesting method as I am currently trying to figure out methods in learning German myself. I wish I could just engulf myself in the culture... but being a days flight away, it's not really easy to do so.

I've always noticed that foreigners use the English speaking Habbos to help themselves with learning English, dating right back to the early days.
