View Full Version : When will Habbo close for good?
I was thinking this the other day, since the big closure of three hotels indefinitely, with no chance of account merging onto the .com hotel. How long do you reckon Habbo will last for now? I personally think it's days are numbered, but I've spoken to a lot of people that are thinking it is still generating a lot of money so it'll not be abandoned for a long time.
What do you guys all think?

Personally, I think that now it is closing the other hotels they will come .com which i have noticed people saying they are from them hotels. This might then generate enough income for Habbo to survive for a while. Habbo.com is its flagship so if its flagship is failing, the whole company is failing. By removing them hotels it will draw them to the flagship. This meaning it should stay a while.

In a few years, they are going to make as much money out if it as possible + based on the recent expansion into the Apple store (phone + tablet markets), it isn't going anywhere soon.

Not so soon, habbo.com.br has 15k avarage (even with a 25k avg users fall) is by far profitable. If you stop to do some math and for every bonus rare you see in mp you count 120c, there is still a lot of money being spent in habbo.com.

I say about 3 - 5 years. Activity has definitely declined.
I think it will fizzle out in a few good years

I'm with the majority opinion that there are a few years to go yet.
Closure of other hotels will draw people to .com - but also they're saving money by closing rather inactive hotels.

10 years+
BUT, the hotel aspect will die in 5 or 6.
Not long tbh, I could legit seeing it go by the end of next year... Just depends on the profitability of it all.
Depends on the costs running it and how much they make, personally demand for it is going down day by day, so I don't think long personally, maybe a year or two?

If they carry on the way its going.. I say a few years..
They really need something new to attract the newer generations coming up, and also need to advertise it a lot more than what they currently are.. You hardly ever see an advertisement about Habbo these days (Or at least I don't)..

If Habbo .com closes I will just go to .es A hotel will be open from the South America Part because they have 10k + users who play active
they should open a retro habbo
What would that achieve?

I would say they will have a maximum of 5 years but they might come up with a plan to merge all hotels together with translations etc. who knows!

No chance of that in the near future.

I've got no clue, but what I do think is that Habbo needs to innovate itself again - become a more social game with integrated Twitter and Youtube widgets, the ability to share spotify music in your rooms etc and make the Habbo experience more of an adventure to what it already is.
On the subject, the CIO of PostNord wrote a blog post on the lack of development in Habbo and the refusal to keep up with trends, you can read this below:
The Last Lesson of Habbo
In 2007 the Finnish company Sulake surpassed Swedish furniture giant IKEA in global sales of furniture. For me this was a huge eye-opener and my first real lesson in digitalisation - because Sulake sold digital furniture on its social network site Habbo Hotel - where kids spent real money buying digital furniture and food for their (always hungry) digital pets.
I realized quickly that digital products was far better to produce and sell than physical - no production, no material, no transportation. Absolutely perfect!
But in the digital world the distance between full success and full failure is short - now in 2015 Habbo just announced closing its gates after having been deserted by its audience whom jumped on to newer generation of mobile social media like Snapchat and Instagram.
Back then Habbo taught me about digital and my kids about online and early social media - and now eight years later Habbo gives its last lesson: Never stop developing your business - digital dies just like any other outdated product - just faster!

Why? They've already got the option to change the hotel client's language.

Have you ever tried doing some homework on Google Translate? It is terrible for any logical sentences. Now, add in text language - it will be hideous.

Skype is about to introduce more conversion of languages and is used far more widely than Habbo. 5 years time, anything can happen!

Skype is backed by a company that spent $10bn on research and development in one year. Habbo gets less than 1/100th of that in revenue, never mind profit to spend on R&D.

I doubt it would get closed down. If anything it would just get sold on and on. IMO, it's too complicated now. They've ruined it. I visit every now and then and can't figure out how to do **** all.

Yeah but in 5 years time that can all change, the technology will be widely available. :p

but for a commercial company it will cost a lot, if they even manage it in the first place. They won't just get it for free.

I know but it's still achievable and is likely to be a norm in 5 years time.

It won't be. Microsofts technology is exceptional. The key part there being an exception.
