If you were offered a place on Mars but could never return, would you? why / why not.

Be realistic here, if it was a real situation would you even consider it? For me it just seems like a very "dark" decission, just like a decission to take your own life, moving to Mars and never returning, is taking your life away from loved ones.

Would you?

No way I wouldn't go. Sure would be nice to visit and see what it's like but I'd never leave my family behind. Would get very lonely very quickly up there!

No way... unless Mars was terraformed like Earth in which case it could be interesting to move to a colony there.

Yes. I can't really explain why I would but it's just such an opportunity... but yes.

Never feel a breeze on your face again.
Never smell or feel grass in the summer again.
Never experience swimming in the sea ever again.
Never being able to smell pollen or the smell of walking in the woods.

It's essentially a living death you are agreeing to.

If they were able to send some McDonalds food over to me without it going off, I'd be more than willing!

Anyway, I probably would consider it. It wouldn't be a definite no.

Not at the age of 17, certainly not! I've not had a decent go at life yet.

To be honest, even if I was like 30 or something I'd still not do it. I don't mind Earth, it's not that bad...

Never. Does anyone remember that Doctor Who special (I think it was Easter or something) called the Waters of Mars? This question reminds me of that.

I'd never go because it'd be so lonely.. Like I can feel lonely on earth sometimes but that would be nothing compared to never seeing anyone again :(

It would highly depend on who goes really, guaranteed survival and you can communicate with the real world.

I'd be very, very tempted. The chance to go down in the history books for the years to come for something as large as going to Mars (assuming we're talking the first set of people) would be amazing so unless someone would manage to convince me to stay, yes I would probably go.

I wouldn't, unless they knew 100% it was liveable.
