Anyone been following this event? One of my favourite tech events of the year. Today is the day of the major press conferences, so the big reveals are shown - although most things have already been leaked!
HTC announced the HTC One M9 earlier - but, for me, it was a huge disappointment. Very minor update to last years model, which is going to be problematic due to Samsung planning a big improvement to the Galaxy S series.
Samsung's event is being livestreamed now - absolutely huge room, looks to be a good show.
Huawei announced the Huawei Watch - which, to me at least, is the most beautiful smartwatch released so far.

I'm a bit disappointed OnePlus doesn't have a stand but oh well. I'm sure they'll figure out some way to get some news out during MWC! The advent of cheap phones with high specs is what I'm looking for in this event.

Indeed. I am entirely focused on phones with very good cameras. The S6 may have just done that for me - but if I can buy an excellent phone with an average camera for £300, I can buy a decent camera with the £250+ I'll likely have left over...

That watch looks similar to the Moto 360 smartwatch...

Well, yes, round watches tend to look similar BUT, there is one KEY (massive) difference. The Huawei Watch doesn't have that hideous black bar at the bottom.

True... the black bar was a massive turn-off for the Moto 360

Indeed. A beautiful product, sadly ruined by that god-awful black bar.
A smart watch should look as beautiful as a standard watch, with added functionality. Without one of those two parts, it is a waste.

Some of the new hardware designs for the Galaxy S look very similar to the iPhone 6.

You mean a bit like how some of the new hardware designs for the iPhone 6 look very similar to the HTC One M8? Please, move on.

The Huawei Watch and the Urbane Watch from LG look very nice and most likely have a higher spec than the moto 360. The moto 360 is let down by its slower processor and the black bar.

Still, doesn't excuse the close similarities.

Also a massive shame, how they've lost some key features that the S series boasted about, expandable storage, water resistant and a removable battery.
Going to be interesting to see how the new S6's sell in work though :)

Literally the only bit that is ironically similar there is the bottom of the phone (speaker, jack and port position). The others are not exactly copying.
You managed to identify;
- a rectangular device
- a power button on the side
- a bar that was on the M8 before the iPhone 6

Take your blindfold off - all smartphones look very similar, and the iPhone 6 is the M8 design, which probably took design cues off of something else. That's how the industry works.

I don't have a blindfold on, I never stated that all smartphones don't look the same.
