What's your favourite lyric/lyrics?

I'd find it hard to answer this question myself if it was /of all time/, so feel free to post your current favourite lyrics or your favourites of all time.

I was a vulture laughing at kids before I made a bet with the devil and came to god with a plea,
let’s put our two heads together and make a man out of me and he said,
“I’m all strung out on miracles, choking on mounds of marigolds.”
Dikembe - Las Vegas Weather.

I saw that day, lost my mind
Lord, I'm fine, maybe in time
You'll want to be mine

i never sleep cos sleep is the cousin of death - nas

and cos it paints a wonderful picture

there's gonna be a lot of slow singing and flower bringing
if my burglar alarm starts ringing - biggie

My favourites change from day to day depending on my mood but there are certain lines that stick with me I guess

"I never sleep, 'cause sleep is the cousin of death" is definitely one that I love as Kyle put above. Nas is hilariously incoherent in conversation but put a beat behind him and he says the most profound things you'll ever hear. If I had to pick one line from anything ever that would probably be the one I'd immortalise. Others that mean a lot to me though:

'And baby you know my hands are dirty, but I wanted to be your Valentine' (Bon Jovi)
'Today has been okay' (Emiliana Torrini)
'O my withered laurels, lay me down to rest with you' (T.H.)
'So you say the present's just a pleasant interruption to the past' (Something Corporate)

There are loads more but I'm not gonna write an essay. Nice thread, makes me remember nice things

i'm awful because i love anything soppy and romantic and tend to fall in love with any lyrics like that :P

"And though I don't know your real name
Your real age, or your shoe size
I will leave this bedroom chair
And this keyboard behind" - Noah and the Whale

then any of the lyrics from set fire to the third bar

I find the map and draw a straight line
Over rivers, farms, and state lines
The distance from 'A' to where you'd be
It's only finger-lengths that I see
I touch the place where I'd find your face
My fingers in creases of distant dark places

I hang my coat up in the first bar
There is no peace that I've found so far
The laughter penetrates my silence
As drunken men find flaws in science

Their words mostly noises
Ghosts with just voices
Your words in my memory
Are like music to me

I'm miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
I, I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms

After I have travelled so far
We'd set the fire to the third bar
We'd share each other like an island
Until exhausted, close our eyelids
And dreaming, pick up from
The last place we left off
Your soft skin is weeping
A joy you can't keep in

I'm miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
And I, I pray that something picks me up
and sets me down in your warm arms

I'm miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
and I, I pray that something picks me up
and sets me down in your warm arms

Yeah <3

There's also this classic:

Windmill, windmill for the land
Love forever hand in hand
Take it all in on your stride
It is ticking, falling down
Love forever, love is free
Turn forever, you and me
Windmill, windmill for the land
Is everybody in?

It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes. Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live and let's change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do what we gotta do, to survive. - tupac shakur

One of my favourites, Jerusalem.

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England’s mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England’s pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear: o clouds unfold!
Bring me my chariots of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight;
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England’s green and pleasant land.

"It kills me not to know this but I've all but just forgotten
What the color of her eyes were and her scars or how she got them
As the telling signs of age rain down a single tear is dropping
Through the valleys of an aging face that this world has forgotten"

rise against - savior

"But hold your breath
Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you
Over again
Don't make me change my mind
Or I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
You're impossible to find"

secondhand serenade - fall for you

"So run home, hide yourself beneath the sheets & lay alone
Or quiver inside & hear the walls fall down as we break all we used to know
Well i can't wait here any longer the ground is waiting to eat me whole
You weren't the one who needed saving turns out it was me all along"

We all know life can get hectic
But if you live in the second,
You exist in the present
And that's how you stay connected
Go through good times and hardships
And if you learn to accept it
And know that every struggle in life,
Is there to teach you a lesson
It's times like this that make you
It's always the darkest part of the night, right before the sun has it's break through
The spirits there to knock you down,
But if you make that the end
You will never know the beauty
Of being able to stand up again
And face it, with patience,
The Pace set is dealing
With judgements and hatred,
Depressed hopeless feelings
But I've been told,
You only create your own ceilings
Life is limitless,
And knowing this is what the spirit is

Inhale Deep - Macklemore

Basically that whole song I love.

Wait a second,
Why should you care, what they think of you
When you're all alone, by yourself
Do you like you? Do you like you?
