Writer Terry Pratchett has died

It was announced on his Facebook page half an hour ago that the writer has sadly died.

RIP to an incredible author notable for his extensive Disc World Series

I just saw this on my Twitter feed, I wonder if he ended it himself as he did say he would do so. RIP.

Awful to hear of his passing but he's been suffering for a long long time with a horrible disease so in a way glad to know that his suffering is over

Alzheimer's is a horrible disease and it's so sad when it affects such a brilliant mind. I will miss him dearly.

From what I have read he apparently died of the illness which, considering how long some people struggle on with it as a mere shell of themselves, is quite a relief as there's pictures of him on his Twitter out and about last summer which means the end must've been less than 6 months for him assuming he was gravely ill.
