View Full Version : Where is everyone?

I have been a Habbo player off-and-on since 2009(ish), I say ish because I have had accounts previous to that, however I never really considered myself a continuing player until 2009. I still stay in contact with a few individuals I met on Habbo, and I am grateful for getting the chance to meet them.

However, I recently logged on because of the rubbish weather (also the fact that the other game I mainly play was down) and once again became quickly engrossed in all the cool stuff that has been added to the hotel. I noticed the counter read only about ~2,000 people online. Now, I could be wrong, but I remember there being in the 6,000's the last time I played.

So, my point, where is everyone? Even with ~2,000 people the rooms seem empty and I can hardly find any games or a wide variety of coin shops as I could before.

Is Sulake doing anything to try to obtain new players?

Side note: I also really miss casinos, what happened?

What update, would you say, caused the largest amount of people to leave?

I wonder if they'd ever consider removing dice restrictions and allowing casinos again. Maybe make it a part of the game, so people are less likely to get scammed.

I don't see that happening really. When was the last time Habbo actually listened to the community & changed something for the better? They're stubborn & they're fairly set on their decision.

Plus I also believe there was something legal about it? Like underage gambling or something? Idek.

it's a real shame that habbo just seems to be continually going down hill with little improvement on users :(

I feel as though Habbos business-model would fit well with todays micron transaction game market. If they focused more on Android and iOS development I do believe it could make a large come-back. Also, they could focus on the builders club, or whatever. Kids, and adults, love MineCraft for that very reason and Habbo was stacking blocks before MineCraft was an idea.

Perhaps a free version of the builders club with an emphasis on the creative aspect of Habbo would bring people back and get new people addicted.

If only Sulake listened.

Unfortunately Sulake probably don't have a lot of choice on this matter due to the whole gambling laws in specific countries. So they probably had to do it for that more than anything else. It was already banned in certain foreign hotels before this happened I believe. But yeah, you have to be a certain age to gamble and Habbo isn't aimed at those people and it's very hard to moderate.

I think the group of people who signed up till 2009 have left. Sulake have made "improvements" to the site which has damaged it. I still believe V9 was the best update and it has slowly gone downhill since.

I think it's mainly due to what's available to youngsters nowadays - when I was a preteen there wasn't really Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube or anything, people did play games for fun. Less young people play games on the Internet - but I reckon proportionally (out of teenagers playing games online) habbo has probably stayed fairly similar throughout its time.

That was under Sulake's control. They had prior knowledge of the investigation and failed to react within an appropriate or timely manner. It wasn't until the investigation was published that they came under fire.

So, with the announcement of the Habbo app for Android, I am sure numbers will spike for a few months if proper steps are taken by Sulake to promote the app within the play store.

I will watch intently in the next coming weeks for user numbers.

Would anyone be interested in user averages?

I have a feeling removing casinos wasn't in Sulake's control at all.

Yet Macklebee insists "Habbo has moved on leaps and bounds". The game has barely moved in 10 years.
