Do you eat at a table like a dinner table or a couch?

At home I always eat at the table and at university we don't have a table (well we have a coffee table that is really low) so I always take my food upstairs to my room and eat it on the computer desk which is a nice height for eating. I used to be able to eat like holding my plate whilst sitting on a couch but I can't stand it anymore as I find it really uncomfortable.

If I am just eating breakfast or something during the day then I will just sit on the sofa, meals are all eaten at a table... unless on the odd occasion we're eating late and we're watching something good like Downton Abbey then we will eat on our laps but generally I would've just cooked something simple like pasta or pizza.

Everyone is in at different times for dinner so usually just couch/bed.

my stepdad never eats with us so we dont see much point sitting in the dining room at the table and getting the seats out when hes just running back upstairs for a game
