Have your family ever taken you to church?

My family have taken me to church only for either weddings or funerals, they've never taken us for any Christmas services or Sunday services as they're not the most religious or at least actively religious. Increasingly though i've been wanting to go for a Christmas service so maybe I will this year at the Anglican Cathedral on my own... only problem is getting forwards and back from town on Christmas night.

How about you?

I used to go to a Baptist Chapel all the time. Wish I still wanted to go. Well, I do but I don't have any encouragement to.

I used to go at christmas but don't anymore, i don't think we've ever attended as a family, unless it was for communion / conformation / funeral

Only for the weddings, christenings and funerals. Never attended any Sunday service or religious occasion though.

I don't like funerals so I don't go to them but I used to go to church every sunday with my grandma and she would scold us for saying for god's sake. I was so jealous of the adults that got to kneel in front of the boss and get rubbed on the head and fed what i thought was one of those sherbert ufos but turns out is just a disc of stale bread or something. I loved the christmas services cos I got to eat my brother's special tinfoil orange and I really liked oranges.

My dad brought me to church and Sunday school. I go on my own now and I only ever get my mum to maybe come on Christmas Eve.

The only time my parents took me is for my christening and for some Christmas service. I've also been for funerals and during school.

my grandparents are both religious and go to church every Sunday. Went a few times when I was like 4 but never since.

Other times only when there's a family/friends wedding, christening or funeral

For funerals or weddings. If they make me like go on a sunday service I just refuse. I used to go to church when I was younger if we traveled up to my grandparents. But that's all really.

No one likes funerals but it's a sign of respect and a way to say goodbye imo

Apart from funerals/weddings/christenings I refuse.

Religions ate stupid and shouldn't be a part of today's society imo.

i'm very selfish when it comes to caring what other people think about what i do ii guess. i pay my respects to the family by telling them i won't be there and offering my condolences and am there for them after the fact (still check in weekly with younger brother of someone close to me that died for example) but so long as the person knew that i cared about them in life and will continue to do so in death there's no reason for me to participate in a ritual that achieves nothing additional. would you be offended or think a person rude if they didn't come to your funeral or one of someone close to each of you?

I was made to go to church until I was about 13 by my mother. She was so angry when I told her I didn't want to go anymore and spoke to the Rector's wife to try and get her to "bring me round" but she just told my mum that forcing me to go would just make me not want to go even more :8
She's cool

I've never been able to pluck up the courage to tell my mum I don't actually believe in god though lol :'(

Yeah Mam used to try and bring us like every second week. I often used to pretend I was still asleep so I wouldn't have to go and omg I was so sickened d when I woke up like hours in advance! Eventually she stopped trying and we just went on occasions or for things like Easter and Christmas but now I've just stopped going altogether

No, but I've been to church more times than I can count over the past 18 months.

Also been for the occasional funeral (sadly).

We'd go every other week on Sundays.

I've been to church for one off things like Remembrance Sunday and things like that. That was only in England as we had a church in our village, here there isn't really one round here so I doubt I'll ever go again unless it's for weddings/funerals etc.

Aside from a funeral, no I've never been taken to a church by my parents. The only ever time I went to a church aside from that was with my school. Wow, I've been to a church twice in my life.

When I was younger I was raised and brought up as a Christian but now as I'm getting older I'm not going to church like I use to before.

eeer... no. I've been to two weddings with the family but neither were in churches, and no funerals yet. Otherwise my parents aren't religious so no being stupidly forced for me!

I used to go to Sunday School for a few years, I went to my cousin's christening years ago too because my mum is his God Mother. I have also been to church for the same family's wedding too.

At the end of term in junior school as well we used to go to church, do presentations, interpretations, sing songs and hymns etc. too.

My play school when I was three was also in a methodist church if that counts as well.

My Mam didn't force me to, but she tried to encourage me to go to Sunday School as a kid, but I never did lol

My family have never taken me to church on a regular basis, only for special occasions such as weddings, funerals, communions, and confirmations. The only other time I've went with the family is when the school was doing the Christmas carol service. We're not really religious.
