If you've got a Desktop, how often do you completely gut the thing? If you've got a laptop (or both) how often do you give the thing a good cleaning? (I'm talking actual, real-life cleaning)

It feels good having a nice clean PC.

I do it every 2 months or so, replaced all the Thermal Paste on my CPU and GPU this time around too :D

Rarely, I took it apart when my CPU was overheating to add more thermal paste and the bloody thing is a dust fest

I never clean my laptop it sits in a drawer cos the screen's broke and it's inked by vga to a monitor and keyboard which i clean weekly. nothing is more satisfying than cleaning a laptop by taking the keys off though and giving it a nice thorough clean. nothing more frustrating than not being able to get another key back on :P turning a keyboard over and giving a good bash never fails to give me great pleasure. try it.

Just got the Corsair K70, the keyboard doesn't have any barriers at ether end of the keyboard so all I need to do is hold the thing on it's side and all the crap slides out with a bit of a blow, it's so ******* satisfying.

I never do, I used to replace my computer every year (build a new one like every November) so never felt the need to.

Had this one for a few years but never bothered with cleaning it either, effort.

I need to clean my Laptop as it is overheating a lot. But last time I blasted it with compressed air it stopped the fan from working so don't like to do it.

Take the fan out, hold the blades and use the hoover pipe, maybe you got condensation in or something? I don't really use compressed air :P

I got a spares laptop so might take it apart and see how to clean that before I do it on mine

I only really clean the outside surfaces of my laptop to give it a nice looking appearance when I look at it. Sometimes I would get a sowing pin to try and push some of the dust and other stuff that gets stuck under the keys out. I wouldn't take the keys off as I would be afraid that I would put them on wrong or get frustrated with it.

I last cleaned my desktop about 6 months ago. It's due another clean soon, but I will be getting a new PSU and GPU soon so I will wait for that.

Every couple of months, I haven't replaced the thermal paste though. It's been the same paste since I installed the CPU around 3 years ago.

Nah mine remains relatively clean always, a few of the fans have started getting some dust build up but other than that it's fine :P

only time I regret not cleaning it out was back when I used watercooling as I broke the pump from leaving it for 6 months, oops.

Just looked inside mine for the first time in a few years cos my cpus been running hot as hell with game crashes etc

I have an antec 902 v3
http://img.ebyrcdn.net/24642-245777-290.jpg

front and side filters on the fans kept it pretty much dust free over the 2 years but the cpu was caked in dust probably because the 200mm exhaust fan is just above it

lost my tube of thermal paste though as there's hardly any on my cpu so must order some. I should probably upgrade from stock intel cpu cooler too but meh i might just wait til i upgrade

Haven't even opened my Laptop since I got it a year ago (A) Probably full of ****. Maybe I'll have a quick look in a day or two if I even have the tools.

Like once a year I might realise how dusty and dirty things are so I just get the vacuum cleaner out and give it a once over.
