My boyfriend and I were long distance for about a year and a half before we got together in person after meeting online. It worked, but it's seriously hard to form trust with them over a screen.

Have you ever had success in a long distance relationship?

You were together for 1.5 year without meeting? that's an online relationship not a long distance relationship imo.

I'm in a long distance relationship and have been for almost 22 months.

No, I met him in person just before our year mark, and then a few months after I got together with him in person. I moved in with him then.

My bad, worded awkwardly.

That didn't really clear it up much better either

a) You e-dated for 1 year, you met him, few months went past, you moved in with him
b) You were close for a year, you met him, few months went past, you dated him and moved in with him
c) Other

Yes, I've been in one since December 2013. We see each other regularly and so far things are going well. :)

I have been in a few, one lasted quite a long time but I wouldn't say it was successful as I'm not with them now, haha.

Me and my boyfriend were together for about 6 months before I moved to uni and now we've been together for 2 years so yeah pretty successful year and a half long distance.

It's not easy sometime but you have to find out what makes it work for you and be clear about your expectations. I spent a long time doubting my relationship until I realised what my expectations were and now i'm much happier!

Only my ex, but it can't really be classed as long difference I don't think as he was only 20-30 minutes from me. However, it felt like a long distance one as he didn't make any effort.

Yes, I dated this girl for a year and 2 months until I found out from one of her best friends that she was sleeping around with guys as she talked to me through Skype. I don't really know if they can be possibly done, maybe they can be but I dedicated a lot of my time talking to her through Skype and it ended up slapping me in the face.

Not really been in a LDR ever.

I dated someone who lived like 45 minutes away by car, not sure if it classifies as a LDR though. The reason I ended it wasn't because of the distance though so I guess it was successful?? Idk
Some call my relationship with Drew a LDR while others call it an online relationship, but I usually just say I'm in a LDR to people irl and it's successful so far :P.

If you've not met irl then it's online relationship. If you've met then it's ldr.

Ah right, that makes sense :P. I've always thought of online relationships as couples who are dating, but have no intentions of meeting up irl ever. What you said makes more sense though :P

Tbh I think it's up to the couple what they want to call it. Online always felt more like no intention to meet/on habbo relationship whereas LDR is someone you have a serious, legit connection with but you live away.

Have I been in a successful one? Well, obviously not that successful or I'd still be in them ;) distance has played a part in breakups but it wasn't the *only* reason for breaking up in all 4 of my cases.

it was the case off not realising how hard it would be to live together, going from seeing each other ever so often to every day, we just ended up scrapping at each other all the time, and no i walked in on him sleeping with someone hahaha whoopsie

I've had a successful long distance relationship with my gf right now, I've been to American for 3 months, I went to Edinburgh for 9 months and we stayed together all through that and now we're living very close to each other in the same city so I'd consider that successful in the sense we managed it for that long :)
