Do you have a favourite tree species?
Being interested in nature and gardening I know and like a lot of them, but a few years ago I made it a mission to be able to name many of the native trees of Great Britain so I quite like our grand old trees for that reason. I'd say other than ornamental, my favourite tree is the Beech Tree which can live for hundreds of years, has smooth bark and is a common woodland tree around the country. I love the way the roots of Beech trees always come above ground on older specimens, makes forests very old and ancient looking.

How about you and why?
