I didn't really know where to post this, so feel free to move it to the correct forum anyone.

I've just come across an E-Mail inviting me to join some website. It was called *removed*. I clicked the link and created an account and it's basically a Habbo retro. I had a little look round and every room on it seems full. In fact, it seems more active than Habbo is.

Are Habbo retros not illegal? If yes why has this website managed to get so popular and active? It also seems like they are accepting payments from people for certain administrator powers. (Sending hotel alerts)

I do not trust ANY retros, no matter how busy it is. Also Retros are illegal and at your own risk to go to.

There is no point trusting websites like this, most will just infect you and then hack your account, if not virus your PC in the process!

Do not trust them!

*REMOVED* is one of the top two elites of retros who on good days can get up to 1k visitors.

lots of habbos openly admit that they also use *REMOVED* :P

First of all I will admit that I used to play habbo retros before i even signed up to habbox

the really good habbo retros will generally need servers n crap to be paid for so they sell different ranks that can have certain perks like sending hotel alerts and getting a 500k credit top up or whatever economy they have to pay for the server, i've paid for ranks on retros and i wasnt scammed. Im not saying that you should join this retro and pay money I was stating to ur last question!

People use them cos you can get stuff without paying! They're usually shut down fairly quickly though but this one seems to have been around for a while... odd. It's just not worth spending time or money on them as they're not sticking around.

Yeah I use to be with a retro as well at a young age and I use to spend a lot of time on there collecting so called "ultras" but once I got to a large amount I went away from the site and it was shut down and all that time was wasted..

I think most people have at least tried retros, they're not worth the time as they don't last five minutes. You're better off working towards earning coins on Habbo.

Suggesting and discouraging users not to use retro's due to the dangers of scamming, non-secure databases and general lack of moderation of chats is fine, but to make up lies to discourage people not to use them is silly.

Retros are illegal, they use content from Habbo which isn't allowed to be use in the way they use it.

I doubt it. They're probably taking their time to build up a solid case against the offending people.

I used to use retros to design rooms to see if they'd be any good before creating them on Habbo, but I don't need to do that now that I can use the free BC trial. I just didn't like having to spend the credits on furni and then realise I'd bought too much/not enough/the idea I had wasn't really working out. The one I used to use has been around for at least 3 years (I've just checked now and it's still there) although it did change its name a couple of years back.

That was the only thing I ever found appealing to me though. I know a lot of people use them as an alternative to the hotel because they don't have to be 'noobs' without HC or credits and they're much more likely to get to know the staff, but I find that pretty boring. I always thought it was like using the cheat codes in a game where everything gets so easy it gets dull after an hour or so.
