Hey guys,

So there has been an influx of new fitness trackers and bands; it seems to be the new fad. I would love to hear your opinions on them, are they a gimmick or would you like one?

Personally I really like the concept of fitness trackers however I feel like most of them are quite gimmicky and have little use. I will probably buy one when they get a bit better because who doesn't want to know more about their body. I wouldn't mind knowing my heart rate, how I slept, how many calories I burnt especially when i'm doing cardio to see what HR zones i'm hitting and whether i need to increase it, lower it or keep it constant.

I've never really used them. The only one I use is the one on my mobile phone which counts the steps I do in a day, how many calories I burnt, how many of those steps were running etc. I occasionally use the heart rate scanner on my Samsung S5 as well but it's nothing that I would specifically go out and buy, it's nice to have it though to keep some sort of track of what you're doing exercise and health wise.

Lots of people in work with me use the ones on their phone to see how many steps they have done because we do a lot of walking and running around. If I can remember to start it, I do this too. I don't really do a lot of like, fitness sort of things so I never bother with stuff but I think it's a great idea.

been proven to give inaccurate readings.

not recommended if your going to take them serious.

Glorified pedometers really. You don't need a heart rate measure or to know how many calories you are burning to the decimal point. If you're working out in a gym most of the technology is available there for keeping a closer eye on your fitness.

I use the Nike+ tracker in my 5th gen iPod pedometer but it doesnt really track and calculate properly.
