Birthday Cake Recommendations

Ok so it's my mum's next birthday next month and she really helped me out by saying "surprise me" when I asked her what kind of cake she wanted.

So any cake suggestions would be greatly appreciated x I'm a competent baker and want to go for something more interesting than a simple victoria sponge or chocolate cake. I've been looking at the BBC Good Food website (http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/category/cakes-baking) but can't decide because there are SO many :(
Even if you've never even touched a spatula I'd appreciate any suggestions on what you'd like to eat x

It looks SO GOOD but look at all the ingredients! I can't afford all of those :'( Plus if it went wrong (which is likely because it's so tricky) I'd be screwed.

She's too middle aged for that kind of thing sadly and I'm bad at decorating but cool suggestion x I might ask for something like that for my own bday but that's not for ages :(

Nothing wrong with a little humour to cheer them up while there getting older, but if I was to choose out of them cakes I'd of chosen the Pauls Berry cake :D
