View Full Version : Injuries
Have you ever gotten any accidental injuries, hurt yourself really bad or gotten really sick?
I'm a clums myself, like donald duck.
My injuries:
Broken toes - a car drove over my foot 8 years ago.
Fell down 2 stairs from a emergency exit, no big injuries, but had to stay at a hospital for 3 days.
swine flue - 5 years ago, stayed in the hospital for 3 weeks, did not return to school for another 5 weeks.
Failed to make a turn on a motorcycle when i was practise driving 1 year ago, i made it out with some bruises but the motorcycle was a total wreck.
What's yours?

Yeah I'm so clumsy irl.
I've also had my foot run over by a car and I broke the whole foot. I don't know who was driving as it was just my foot on the road and they just ran over it and kept driving :'( Had to cycle home as well.
I've (TMI warning- this little paragraph might make you cringe) knelt on a pair of curtains and must have accidentally knelt on a needle in them as it got embedded in my knee. It was all the way in so I didn't even know it was there but it was SO painful. I went to A&E three days later (after all, there was nothing to see except the TINIEST little drop of blood on the outside) and it had been scraping at my kneecap and it damaged it a bit so that's why it had been so painful. Had to have an operation to get it removed. Oh, AND be kept under observation for ages and have a load of jabs because obviously the needle could have had all sorts on it. I did have to have antibiotics as it was slightly infected.
I've fallen up the stairs, hit my face on the banister and knocked one of my incisors out. The gap began to naturally close up over time and I had to have braces to widen it again (I needed braces for other reasons too tho) before I could have a fake tooth put in.
I've done all sorts to myself.

Not really gotten any accidental injuries, but I did tear my MCL playing rugby. Apart from that I've never had any injuries not including the occasional stubbing of a toe :P

Many of these will be work related as I seem to be clumsy there. I'm generally not too clumsy though, not as clumsy as my sister anyway :P.
I was working stock with someone at work, but they got called onto a till and left these tins of cat food on a kicker/stool. After a while I knew he wasn't getting off the till in a hurry so I went to put the cat food out, started cutting the plastic and a pack of them fell on my foot and my manager was coming down so I told her what happened.
I tried collapsing a cage down at work and I'd put the metal bottom up ready to put the arms across and put it to the side, but the bottom fell back down onto my foot.
I had a slight infection in my toe and managed to drop a box on my foot at work and bust it.
The worst one though was definitely pulling a cage of compost out, I had just started on First Aisle at work and I was moving the cage down and we have a carpet at the doors, and the doors only open automatically if you're coming in so I had to try open the doors whilst not trying to get the cage stuck on the carpet. Basically the cage got stuck, not because of the carpet, but because I'd ran other my foot with it and hadn't realised immediately, probably because of the pain and kept going slightly then realised. I managed to limp outside put the cage out, and shouted over to the first till to shout management in a timid voice as I was in a lot of pain. I went in the back and it had bust my toes underneath the nails, and was pretty much broken, but luckily it had a little gap for the blood to seep through otherwise I would have had to go to hospital. My foot was bruised for ages and it messed my toe nails, the big and 2nd toe mainly for around 6 months after. I might have broken something and not realised.
Another one, not from work, but my boyfriend found it hilarious. We were in the bus station stood at the side of the entrance so I put my head forward a bit then went to look at something. I forgot there was a glass panel/window there and head butted it.

Not really prone to injuries generally speaking. Worst is either when I was young tripped over and scraped one half of my head along concrete or when I was even younger and whacked my head on a toilet. The latter left a pretty neat scar I'd say.

I'm extremely clumsy and always manage to whack my head, feet, toes, elbows and any other part of the body you can name. It's more than a daily occurrence for me.
However, I've never seriously injured myself or broke anything before -- I've probably jinxed that now, though.
There was one time I was riding a bike (more than 5 years ago) along a large hilly bit and as I started to come down the hill, I went flying face-first off the bike and landed quite a far distance away on to the ground. I think the bike landed on me afterwards too or something. As much as it really hurt, it wasn't anything serious.

It was given the name swine flue in norway, it might have another name in your country.

I haven't ever broke any of my bones, just generally minor injuries like cuts and bruises.
