Good shot to win it, defence was just ridiculous though 7 of them in the box marking 2 forwards and none of them anywhere near the actual play. Positioning was just horrific really

2 up so quickly, I'm watching because nothing else is on really but with all respect to them it's sort of like watching football at half speed, or like watching FIFA/Pro Evo with really good graphics.

AWFUL keeping from England just there for the return goal as I was writing this :P literally patted it back into the striker's path. It's good that there's so much coverage of this as it's obviously a big event and all but realistically the skill level is akin to men's Conference teams

Disagree with that. It is slower, but that is just showing it is a different form of the game.

There's time afforded to attackers on the ball that would be unacceptable in any Football League games, so many mistakes in positioning and tactics. It's not a dismissal of the sport, just an observation that despite the incredible strides women's football has come through in recent years there's still a huge difference in technical ability. Makes me want to go out and play nowwwwwwwwww why is it so late and why do I not have enough friends to set up a game booo

Why are they talking about quinoa lmao also this commentator sounds too similar to Craig Charles, it's putting me off

OOOHHHH CRUNCH what a collision ahh

The reason he sounds similar to Craig Charles is that the commentator was the commentator for robot wars :P

Also, this is the first time that England have got through to a world cup semi final in our life times! (Except all you 25+)

FlyingJesus is wrong actually - it's thought that if you want to compare Women's football against Men's, then the top women's team could just about play on a level of the top U15 boys. So much lower than conference level I think.

I read somewhere that the USA Women's team actually train against U15 boys.

What so he was literally a replacement Craig Charles wow that's got to be a blow to one's ego

No, Craig Charles presented the show, whereas the WC guy would commentate the match itself.

They're being hailed as heroes and all this nonsense but we all know that if the men's team got to the semis and then Cahill smashed it into the top corner of his own net in the last few seconds there would be absolute murder

I just don't get it. They have still managed a huge achievement. I know you are very concerned at the fact they are not as good as the men's team (ie. the men's team would smash the women's; probably in more than one way), but the difference in the opposition is also different which makes the achievement incredibly significant.

It's about time England actually did well in the game it invented. Our men's team should be ashamed.

They managed to dribble with the ball actually at their feet, that's what. Not sure why you think doing "well" at a game in a ridiculously low level is something to be quite so proud of nationally, we aren't out celebrating Worthing only losing 5-2 to Northampton Town last week are we

Because it is the best we have in women's football. Stop showing yourself to be such a misogynist. It’s about time women's sport was actually accepted.

FlyingJesus

lol there is nothing misogynistic about it, I'm not saying that the skill levels are low because they're women, just that they are low. If anything you're the misogynist trying to falsely elevate them (and thereby patronising them) just for what's in their shorts. I repeat; the best of a bad bunch is nothing to be celebrating
