I think I need a place to rant, and this is the safest place to do it.
Today before we left work (4am) we were all told that there was an email sent from our boss.
The said Email informed us all that if we call in sick just once, we aren't allowed back to work unless we contact him. We have very little to do with our boss, will only see him on the odd occasion, we answer to our Supervisor or Team Leader. Anyway, the Email also stated that the unauthorised absence could be seen as going AWOL, basically which could then lead an instant dismissal
I think this is appalling, we work very hard, cleaning trains or stations, each person working 6 days a wee, earning just £7.02 per hour at the highest rate, if you're in the age bracket. Even at night we earn the same, regardless of anti-social hours.
We are having to work even harder because we are short staffed as it is, as people have left us for our rivals at Crossrail and TFL Rail. They are leaving because of better pay and better conditions, but we can't all leave as there won't be enough places at these other companies. If they continue to treat their employees badly, they are likely to lose more , it's easier to find work when working as they say, so we will be even more stretched than we already are. It's getting quite bad that even a few of us are having to give up our one day a week off and work 13 days (before it becomes illegal). Each night we have 18 trains to clean, might no seem much but it really isn't as easy as it would seem.
Anyway, rant over for now.
