View Full Version : Habbox advertising

So apparently we're hosting an official event on Habbo at the moment, which is great as a way to get people involved on the client and potentially increase traffic... except that we don't appear to be advertising it at all. You get a pretty badge for doing it which a lot of people seem to care about and it's a way to pass the time while putting Habbox's name up there on official space, and obviously time has been put into making the rooms and all that, so why is there nothing around the forum (or on the main site even) making a big song and dance about it? We all keep banging on about needing a greater client presence and things like this are a great opportunity to exploit that

Aren't all events advertised on the site?

Edit: oh I've just realised you mean a BIG habbo event for an actual badge I don't know why that didn't occur to me before sorry xx especially as that's literally what you said

There are usually posts to advertise the events! Kelly's been planning 2 things at once though so it is easy to forget stuff. She did request a quick graphic earlier so I assume she's posting it soon!

I don't think any fansite yet has worked out how to effectively use the fansite weekend to increase traffic to their sites. They're popular so it's definitely a good opportunity to try out different things and see if anything works. Personally, I think we need to coordinate with HxL and offer gold bar competitions in the room (perhaps if multiple rooms, different departments can offer a different gold bar competition) so at least there is some attempt to interact with users because at the moment, these fansite events are just bots advertising the name and giving instructions - and that's not just Habbox, that's all of them but why should that mean we copy ;)

The way I wrote it noobs; there is nothing on the forum or site making any mention of what's supposedly a big enough event for Habbo to endorse it themselves

god rhyss

yeah but the graphic was requested before Kelly went to work and it's been done now so it's ready to go :) there's a few days until the event is over so i'm sure something will be posted before then!!

I was gong to post it before I went to work but I never had time to do it, I planned to do it when I got in from work but honestly the first thing on my mind is to have dinner. I'm not even sure if we're allowed advertise habbox throughout the event, as it's to advertise the actual event rather than our own fansite.

I didn't meeeeeeeeean advertise Habbox in the event, the event existing does that. I meant making us aware here that it's happening so it fills up and does the job for us *+*+*

What is it with you Irish people and letting dinner get in the way of things ;|

The event existing doesn't advertise Habbox lmao. It gets a chance to show the name but that's meaningless. You don't need to know who's running it to complete it so it doesn't really make any significant difference. I sometimes complete them if I'm ever bored enough and see one but I never visit the sites that made them.

FlyingJesus
17-07-2015, 10:59 PM
If that's true there's no point us ever doing them surely

the only site people probably go on when you go to the fansite badge events is habboquests for the guide and answers

to get people to actually go on habbox.com or hxf you need to make games and tasks which require people to visit the sites and make sure habboquests don't do the guide

Well as you say people do enter so it'd seem a missed opportunity not to do them but it is not making the most of the opportunity to just have the name in a few messages and room titles and leaving them to it. The first fansite event that we did was a bit of a mess cos it was the first ever one but there was a telephrase in there that required use of HxL for the answers so HxL had over 100 listeners for a long time. The weekend wasn't over before it was back to normal so I don't think even that is very effective at retaining people.

I believe a presence in the room offering a seperate competition with a high enough prize that wouldn't be worth ignoring but requires using Hx will be something worth trying the next time the opportunity comes along otherwise yes, it does become rather a pointless exercise (although personally, I've always thought Habbox had the best badges so at least we've got that).

It's a hard thing to do when you're advertising something that has nothing to do with your fansite :(

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory has nothing to do with Habbox and you managed that. Use that creativity!

+rep for those mad advertising skills

Well ye, AdminCP would make advertising easier for AGMs by allowing them to make/edit forum announcements and especially when some admin holders might not be aware that an event on Habbo is even happening. At least give it to the AGM Community as interaction on-client should be a main priority and is often one of the first things people see when they log in/get on the forum?!

When myself and Roxy916 were Assistant General Managers we requested ACP from Matt and Jin so we could post forum notices and we were given it. We had a limited version but it was more than enough for what we needed it for, surely Laura and Kelly could have that if that form of ACP is still around.

Also someone made a comment about doing these events whenever, I don't really want a load of HFFM badges but I would collect the Habbox ones... If I knew when they were on.

I don't have a problem with it really, I just continued the way it was. I've given them both access to it now.
