so I have spoke about my social anxiety before and whilst I'm able to socialise much better in person, I still can't do phonecalls! I'm genuinely just about to walk to the hairdressers to make an appointment because I'd actually rather talk in person than on the phone?!
I know people who don't have social anxiety that dislike it too
how do you feel about making them?
I'm alright with phone calls if I know the person. Professional calls scare me. I dread answering the phone at work and from people like the bank or the internet company (who I often can't understand anyway). Professional based things are just scary as they mean I have to actually talk properly and act my age (which is the total opposite when I ring my friends/family).
I don't mind it at all and I am quite good on the telephone. My job requires me to speak on the phone a lot so it's a good thing I don't mind it :P My sister HATES it though.

Zealoux; and I share a hatred of phonecalls and I used to suffer from social anxiety really badly. I don't have any trouble picking up the phone at home anymore but I dread having to pick up the phone at work, same as Matt. I also can't can't CAN'T call someone else.

my job is answering calls which I have gotten over, but when it comes to making the call I always get anxious. I do it obviously I make all my appointments etc no problem but if they have an online option I'll use that hehe

Yeah, I'm really bad. I've learnt to be able to pick up the phone at home and work, although sometimes I still struggle with it, however making phone calls is a big no no. I had to ring the bank the other day and when I did it I was a shaking bag of nerves. Told empired though, I was so proud pahahaha

I'm fine with answering the phone. Work phone, home phone, mobile phone, I have no issues with that. Making a phone call is another thing though. I've just started tutoring and I had to call the mum of the kid I am tutoring and the whole conversation was super awkward and I mumbled so badly that she had to ask my name and where I was calling from again because she couldn't understand me the first time.

Can't stand it whether I'm calling or picking up the phone, genuinely takes a lot of strength to go through with it but then I'm usually ok once the conversation's started which is odd but hey none of it makes sense really. I don't EVER pick up the phone if I don't know who it is no matter what mood I'm in or how I'm going

I hate talking on the phone - and I also hate talking to hairdressers (nothing against them, I just feel awkward and uncomfortable) so I hate getting my hair cut too.
If people call me I get a little anxiety which I wouldn't get talking to the same people in person. It goes quickly after I answer the phone but it's not a nice feeling.
I prefer talking in person with say a manager or someone but I like to answer phone calls from someone i dont know, I dont like making phonecalls to people i dont know cause im awkward at introducing who i am if i need to

I would rather talk in person. I have a southern accent and soft voice that can be a little hard to understand for some people if I'm in a call with them for the first time. If I had an interview or important discussion on the phone though I can manage to be louder and clearer of course.

I'm generally ok with phone calls, however I hate calls from the banks or insurance companies as I usually don't understand what they are talking about. Its also very annoying and awkward when you need to talk a note of something and don't have anything to write on.
I dislike talking on the phone in general
especially to people who aren't local. like my accent is hard enough to understand anyway, and it's just worst through a phone

i hate speaking on a phone absolutely hate it probably down to my speech problem but i think my speech problem makes my social anxiety worse i hate speaking to people in public i hardly know
i personally think if I didn't have my stupid god damn speech problem my social anxiety wouldn't be as bad

I hate talking to people on the phone or face to face (depending on who). If there's a way to email them, do it online or something like that then that's what I'd do.
Inseriousity.

I try to avoid it at all costs. I don't know what it is but it feels like I'm deaf when I'm talking on the phone. I can barely understand a word anyone's saying so I always feel really rude making them repeat things three times before I've figured it out. I'm getting better, just the thought of having to pick up the phone wrapped my guts up into a bow before but now I've talked on the phone a lot since then (I've got used to it because it's like a necessity with job hunting) and my new job involves phoning customers so I'll have to not let it bother me.
I much prefer face-to-face or online communication and will always take this option if I am able to.
my job forces me to take and make calls so I have to like it! but I do quite enjoy being on the phone anyway haha. Although if I know it's going to be a snotty customer or I have bad news, I do prefer email to save the awkwardness of letting them
down, but needs must!

I just hate talking to people in general.... It's just stupid.. They all should just be able to read minds..
I don't like talking to people because I get so nervous I just start stuttering and not knowing what to say and losing my train of thought because all I can think about is how nervous I am and to calm down and wanting to die :/
I can't stand talking on the phone. If someone calls me I literally freeze and if I manage to pick up you'll get about 3 words off me the entire conversation. Makes me shudder!

I'm fabulous on the phone now. I used to be awful but I'm always on the phone at work and after almost 4 years of it I've got used to it and its built my confidence in other areas as well.

It's really weird because I'm fine answering phone calls but I absolutely hate making phone calls myself and try to avoid it at all costs!
At work I've had no choice but to answer the phone, but it's just the whole dialling the number and waiting part which gets my anxiety going I guess I don't know! :O

Don't mind making calls, don't really enjoy taking them.
I'M THE SAME WAY TOO! Honestly, It's starting to change for me more but I hate talking on the phone like if someone is calling me I will ignore the call and if they lose a voicemail I would wait to listen to the voicemail weeks later.
I'm really good with all calls, even professional. I spent a lot of my time at my retail job phoning customers from the shop, I had no problems.

I used to absolutely loathe it but now I genuinely don't mind it. If I need to sort something I try to get it over and done with. I've developed a bad habit though, Meanies; doesn't like being on the phone when someone is in the room and will goto another room, I've begun doing it too now and that's the only time I feel awkward

I also don't like making or taking phone calls in the same room as someone. (Unless it's like my mum ) so I go to another room. I also can't sit when on the phone, I have to keep myself busy to make it feel less awkward i think
most of my friends hate phonecalls and hate talking on the phone so refuse to do it
i cant type v well so i prefer phoning people bc saves time
i only have 400 minutes though so theyre usually gone after about a week lmao
no problem making phonecalls to people or places or anything
happy talking to anyone in person too
not really fussed

im so surprised at the amount of ppl that don't like it! that's me being really naive but i just didn't see it as common as I used to ask for phone calls n would have 2-4 long phone calls a day
then take about 60 at work lol
