I'm watching this program on TV about Extreme Couponing where some people get their shopping for like $13 when it should be like $600 because they use LOADS of coupons. It'd be really embarrassing, but do you think it's worth the savings?
Do you cut and save coupons?

scott always makes me pick up those "save £..p on your next shop" then we never use them...
and i don't think it's embarrassing! my mum used to save a lot with coupons. i'm very cheap and aint embarrassed to pay a small amount for something. every little helps!!!
yeah I save them up and then use them on my tinder dates
I had about 12 temporary morrisons saver cards cos I never brought them back shopping with me and don't like saying no to people. I've never used a savings coupon in my life, never even asked for a student discount.

If I get them then yeah I'd use them but I never seem to get any :(
We have one of them Morrisons Match and More cards and we always get £5 vouchers from it, which is good

When I have any coupons in my purse or discounts available for whatever I'm buying I use 'em. Saves me money and allows me to use that money for something I may need in the future or just to treat myself to something nice, so yeah it's definitely worth it. :)
Couponing isn't really a thing here? but yes I use student discount and if I have vouchers I use them.

Don't really use coupons but If I use my student id badge when buying a mcdonalds extra value meal I get either a free original mcflurry hamburger or cheeseburger.

If it's something I actually want then sure but those "extreme couponing" things don't work in the UK because we always have regulations on it like cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer and all that plus companies over here don't do such drastic deals anyway, it's a very American thing

lol my mum showed me a page where I got 20p off a newspaper and I was like yeah mum its only 20p but she was making it sound like I was saving a fortune. I tend to avoid using them, not because it's embarrassing, more because I avoid buying anything worth saving money on.
yes the morrisons match & more card is AMAZING for saving money and giving u coupons
but they are changing it in 4 weeks time and rather than price matching other supermarkets instead u get 5 points for every pound u spend. so u have to spend £1000 to get £5 off which is so shit

Yawn yawn yawn :D
Im sure it's 500 points per £5 off?! That makes it £100?

and I use it for other stuff here and there if it's worth the effort

Oooh you sooo should use it more/check how much is on there, I had a woman come in last year and do all her christmas shopping, including gifts, came to like £350 - she paid for it all on her nectar card. It's definitely worth it

I don't tend to use coupons as I don't really shop much, but if I had them I would use them. I really love the show Extreme Couponing and they even did a Black Friday special episode which was interesting to show how much people can save depending where they shop and the time they do it.
The thing is Mike, a lot of people assume that because something can be purchased cheaper with a coupon then it's not worth buying at all, like you said pretty much. There are so many coupons out there that give you money off different things and it doesn't necessarily mean they're not worth the amount that you would usually pay because they are. For example, if you go on FreeStuffUK or something you are available to get freebies and vouchers off certain products - you can get yogurts for free for example, and they're good brands like Activia so does that mean they're literally not worth anything?
Coupons are available for high valued items too - like if you put a discount code in online that's similar to a coupon, more of an e-coupon, but just because something is available cheaper doesn't decrease the quality of the product! I understand that's the opinion you have though and I don't want it to sound like I'm calling you up on it, I'm just saying there are a lot of things that are available and not just the rubbish cheap brand stuff.

whattt serious
isn't it like 0.01p for every £1 you spend or something ridiculous

oh fk idk its like 1 point per £1, 500points for £2.50
wait when you put it like that it sounds like a scam xD but yeah christmas time last year when i was on checkouts everyone was paying for their shopping with their points, it was quite cool
plus if you shop in sainsburys you get like triple points vouchers and stuff so that makes it go up faster
I don't really find coupons for things I want. My parents use the petrol coupons from the shops every week but that's about it.
Yawn yawn yawn :D

no u will get 5pts for every £1 u spend
reaching 5000pts = £5 coupon
Ahh yeah it is 5000 points, my apologies :$

But I never said any of that at all lol :P
I meant that the effort to get vouchers isn't really worth it if your main shopping habits are buying things that are already pretty cheap like a newspaper (40p), coke (£1), sweets (£1), McDonalds (£5) etc.

I use lots of £5 coupons that may or may not be actually mine and totally not taken from work.
I then may or may not give stolen coupons to Laura if she ever needs them
Totally legit coupons
Nah, some of them are legit
So yes, I use coupons often

Why would it be embarrassing to use a coupon to save money? If the company is offering a discount you'd be a fool to purposely pay extra when you can save money.
I always do a quick Google when I order things online and normally save a bit - which all adds up to a substantial amount over time.

I got like £30 worth already since their October point offer started. Frigging awesome.

If it's something I want or will need then I will buy what ever is on the voucher at a discounted price. I don't normally just buy stuff cause it's cheaper than normal, I do however use my student discount everywhere I can! I'm in thousands of £ of debt, the least I deserve is £3 off of a t-shirt.
I always get a lot of them through the post and plan to use them but never get round to it.
They only one I really use is dominos :)

I never seem to be able to find coupons, and if I do there usually for things I don't need/want. I do use that student discount for mcdonalds though and have been getting petrol for my car from sainsburys since that nectar deal has been on this month.

do you have to be a certain age to use coupons?
I've never used them
Not even my family use them - the ones you get through your door just get chucked in the bin, my mum finds them useless; Brother use to use them though, not too sure about now!

i'm a bit of a bargain hunter, so am always embarassingly digging through reductions in supermarkets or sale sections with clothes. love being able to use nus card on things like pizza express and spotify - don't tend to use coupons though as you usually have to spend so much in the first place.

Only when I buy Dominoes. Quick google search and you're saving £5+

Hardly use coupons or get any at all to be honest. I mean I've used stuff for like Dominos now and then by a quick google search. Or when I'm buying a domain with namecheap then they usually have a promo code. But nothing like Tesco etc.
Don't really use any. I've used some at Subway recently, that's about it.
