Would you consider yourself posh, or a snob?

I am in no way shape or form posh, however my dad does feel the need to repeatedly call me a snob. Mainly because I spend ''ridiculous amounts of money on clothes and shoes'' and also because I want to redo our bathroom and downstairs toilet when "they're in perfectly fine working order". I buy high street brands and the odd designer pair of shoes, shop in places like Primark and Asda for clothes, shop at Lidl (♥) and other discount places for food, however I do on the occasion buy stuff from M&S. I don't think this makes me a snob at all, what about you? If you do/don't think you're either, what do you think makes you either one of them?

Posh definition:
Elegant or stylishly luxurious.

Snob definition:
A person who believes that their tastes in a particular area are superior to those of other people.

You don't sound like a snob, every once in a while a lot of people will buy something that is maybe more expensive than they usually go for, but it's more like a treat and that.

I'm definitely not posh or a snob, I don't really care what I wear or look like, but I'm at that stage where I don't think I'll grow anymore so if I wanted to buy something that bit more expensive then I could and they'd last me ages. I am a bargain hunter though so I definitely wouldn't consider myself either of them.

Food is food, clothes are clothes. I don't go for labels, if I can get the exact same shirt, minus the tiiny logo, for £30 cheaper, then that's what I'm gonna do xD

Wouldn't brand myself posh, but others do - not sure about that, though.

Can be snobbish about some things, but probably one of the least snobby about other things. Difficult one!

I'm weird in that I (probably harshly) look down on people with pink hair on council estates, and yet refuse to be treated any differently to others when I'm visiting a developing country where I am unimaginably more wealthy than people who I am with :S

Similarly, I refuse to buy into brands based on them being 'exclusive', but undeniably look down on certain other brands..

A lot of people say I'm posh because I come from a relatively privileged background but I don't think I am at all. There are a few things I don't like compromising on (I like specific wines, don't eat sausages with less than 90% pork, only like certain steaks etc) and I like a lot of typically "posh" things (orchestras, operas, ballets, reading) but generally no I'd never describe myself as posh.

Exactly, I guess when you look at it like that then you are snobbish. I feel the same way but I wouldn't consider myself a snob. I guess it depends on what social groups you associate with. If you were hanging about with people with pink hair on council estates then you probably would be the posh snob of the group but if you're hanging about with people sitting in Starbucks on your macbook then you probably wouldn't think yourself or anyone your with to be a snob or posh, however the pink haired council estate people would consider you posh and snobbish.

i don't think im either but people at work think i'm posh because they all have geordie accents and even though i'm from up north and have lived here all my life, and my dad is from here i have a 'posh' voice (apparently!) also i went to a private school which means people instantly just assume posh :P

the snob one is more difficult. I do buy expensive things, shop at M&S etc but i don't think that that alone makes me a snob. I don't walk into M&S and see people walking into aldi and look down on them or anything, i just shop at m&s because its what i prefer. with clothes, i won't buy it just because its expensive or branded, i'll buy it because i like it and think that its worth the money. if there's a branded jumper lets say and asos have one which looks the same for half the price i'd go with asos.

so yeah i wouldnt say im either but feel free to disagree with me lol

edit: like when i got my audi i had someone i went to school with message me saying 'oh youre such a snob for getting an audi at 19' being really serious

i think thats ridiculous, like if i can afford an audi and i want to spend money on it then why does that make me a snob? if having a 'nice' car (its not even THAT expensive compared to a lot of cars you see..) makes you snob then isn't everyone who doesn't have a rusty old banger a snob?

I wouldn't class myself as being posh or a snob.

I'm far from being stylish or elegant - I don't care how I look and I don't make myself something I'm not to please others. And I don't think my tastes are superior to anyone, everyone's different and sees things in different ways.

I'm a neutral guy or whatever you'd call it.

Going off the below definitions I wouldn't say I'm posh.

I could be a bit of a snob but I don't thing I have a taste in a particular area. Like there are people that are your stereotypical bogan Australians who wear singlets, flip-flops, don't seem to care and are really loud etc etc etc. I definitely feel a bit more classier than them types of people and I always make sure I'm presentable when I leave the house and am courteous and respectful of others. I tend to steer clear of the types of people that are the opposite of me as I won't tend to get on with them!

I am fussy, not posh. I don't care about like clothes labels (Most say F&F or George tbh :/), but I am fussy with food, but that's an eating disorder not because I'm posh. I am moderately privileged, but not like OTT.

considering my upbringing and social circumstances, there is no way i'd ever be deemed posh. i have a scottish accent, i lack in vocabulary and i'm cheap as hell. i have definitely been called a snob before (or more accurately, a snobby **** :P) but that's because of in the past where i was too shy or awkward to force myself to have nice conversations and might have looked like i was looking down on the other person.
