View Full Version : Language Translator

Today someone came into The Habbox Help Desk and started speaking to me. Just the general "How are you?" Etc and he then told me he was Spanish. Everyone in the room was chatting to each other like usual and he said that he didn't understand properly and he seemed really upset. This upset me as I wanted him to be able to understand what we were all saying but I guess that's one of the rubbish things about the hotels merging together.
Anyway it got me thinking. Habbo should have a language translator where you choose what language you want to translate into your own language and an extra bubble should come under the original text with the translated text :)

it is a nice idea but wouldn't work and if you have ever used things like google translate or the translate tool on fb for large chunks of text it can be very inaccurate

Yeah I have noticed that but it would be great if it was possible and accurate :)
Its accurate to a point is google translate and you can pretty much make out what it means. would be quite good if habbo did this and I used to get annoyed when people were talking in another language and I had no idea what they were saying!

It is annoying and when people come into The Habbox Help Desk and you can't help them because they don't understand, it sucks or if you don't understand them x
Lol no they have their own Hotel!! Don't need encouragement to put all languages into one hotel.

yeah, reds right
if they were to introduce a decent translator which actually works and is accurate then there'd be no point for multiple hotels - we might as well all just be on the one hotel haha
also it might not work very well as everyone in every single language uses slang and the translator may not pick up this slang so it'd make things difficult!
google translate is good for basically telling them to go to the spanish hotel but not good for a full convo
negative nancies
skype recently introduced a language translation tool for ongoing conversations and in my experience it works rather well for most convo. translators don't need to be able to convert essays or slang to be a good idea or to be useful in uniting people.

There are multiple hotels? Every time I try and find one in another language nothing comes up, so I'm confused. Thought the merge merged all of them together into one where everyone speaks different languages or am I wrong? :)

Habbo.es (https://www.habbo.es/) is still up and running :) I think while there are still separate hotels for different languages obviously a language translator would just diminish the point of different hotels, but if they ever decide to merge them all (which I think is a real possibility seeing what they've already merged) then it would be absolute must.

I've always thought they should make something like, especially for languages without a hotel. Would be a good idea in my opinion.

Thank you for telling me that because I thought they literally merged everything together including the languages because I see a lot of people talking in other languages. Either way this wasn't a serious thread, I just felt sorry for the guy so an idea came to mind :) x

i've always found it weird the way people would play in hotels other than their nationalities like americans on british etc

There are 9 hotels still up and running! There have been a few merge, but 2015 saw the closure of 3 of the hotels, which is odd to say they opened a Turkish one in previous years anyway.
www.Habbo.fr (French)
www.Habbo.es (Spanish)
www.Habbo.it (Italian)
www.Habbo.nl (Dutch)
www.Habbo.de (German)
www.Habbo.Fi (Finnish)
www.Habbo.com.br (Brazilian)
www.Habbo.com.tr (Turkish)
Also I'm not sure if you know about this, but it might help you if you ever need it - if you type in a room any of these below it changes all the headings to the language you requested, so the settings, zoom etc. will be in the respected language:
:lang fi (changes to Finnish)
:lang en (changes to English)
:lang nl (changes to Dutch)
:lang pt (changes to Portuguese)
:lang es (changes to Spanish)
:lang tr (changes to Turkish)
:lang it (changes to Italian)
:lang fr (changes to French)
etc. not sure about the others I think they're correct though, there are probably more.
