View Full Version : What makes you feel old on Habbo?

A bit of an odd question, but does Habbo have a feature or anything that makes you feel old? For me I think it's the Market Place - the Market Place went live before the merge and the merge was now 5/6 years ago, it shows how long I've been playing! The other one for me is WIRED, I can't imagine Habbo without it now, but I remember when it was untradeable and I still have it on my old account because I've never bothered trading it over what about you?

There's probably more I've forgotten about, but I'll probably add on later.

1. Groups and group badges..
2. Remembering that it used to be a "hotel" and was sorta marketed/designed as such.. less so now.
3. Cameras and photos..
4. Trophies
5. My old scripted room..

Not knowing how wired works most the time :(

I only know the basics and I reckon if it came out when I was proper into Habbo I'd know everything but now it seems pointless

Not having the hand makes me feel old..

Especially when you mention it in a room and a 13 year old goes "what's the hand?"

I just cry myself to sleep..

Kids these days just don't know what it was like to sort through 50 pages of tiny furniture icons in a virtual hand :(

Seeing join dates like 7 years ago and thinking that they've just registered lol

Really strange that I did things like work at the Elite Police Force (owned by ThunderwolfX) on .com in 2005 and it's still around in 2015.... Glad I made a 2005 tribute room of it now.

A lot of things make me feel old tbh, although I'm not that old... I'd mainly say wired makes me feel old, plus I miss the old coin purse & hand :(

Knowing that my Habbo is old enough to register its own Habbo makes me feel pretty ancient :P not that I often feel particularly young when I'm on the hotel

When I was younger before the beta of the new client came out or maybe during when they were testing it
I remember working for the FBI like eriol6. or something like that Lol I also remember working for the CIA and
I remember working for this actual airport agency owned by .:BodeGuard:. I think his name was something
like that looool but only God knows what account I used then? the account I always use now is from 2012 so I can
imagine in like a decades time that being considered old af and one of the people I work in an agency now with
Untorn, is from 2003 lol and she gets questioned all the time about her join date.

I remember them old hamburger places and lido and how I was desprate for like 2c to use that lift I also remember
that HC Club room only, and I remember how getting HC was a big deal and I won two 25c sacks in Falling Furni
also for some reason I rememeber, although I don't do it now, Online dating this girl who owned a restaurant lol
but she found me cheating on an owner of a Cozzie Change and we had this big emotional sloppy breakup scene.

I also remember how the HC vs Norm thing was much more bigger than now and generally public rooms were more
populated than it is now, I also remember playing FiendFyres Hogwarts when it was soooo popular I was such a
noob to RPing thenn this guy was pi$$ing me off so i remember going like -I turn you into a frog- and I got sent
to the headmaster's office and I got a warning lol..

I think I remember this Massive trading world room that I've tried to find but I think it shut down basically it was
just HC Sofas stacked like a pyramid and I always tried to get to the top, I never did and I remember them old
dialog boxes when trading lol and that old purse and there were flies in there.

I also have memories of erm the music and when they had games you could play that was the best, I have very
fond memories of Habbo pre the full transition to the new client like 2009-2011 but I think even then I played
rarely before that when I saw my older brother playing and I was mesmorised by the colourful pixels and
furniture and like when I was reallllyyy young at a party with my family at a friends house who lived on a
council estate I remember seeing this boy playing habbo at the hamburger place and everyone was watching
him on his laptop.

For some reason I remember petting a dog at that same party, or was it chasing me?

I wish habbo reverted back to its old cheesey self sigh.

Absently; does it make you feel old when people tell you that you look like you're between 30 and 35

All of habbo makes me feel old as it looks and was a LOT different back when i started in '99. Now its just so, childish? I know when i started, at least in the swedish domain, there was a feature in teh login where you needed to write your social number so they could confirm yoru age cuz at the time it was required to be 16 or older. I faked it using my dads social information. xD
Back then you were allowed to use provocative language and scriptign and such things. All went downhill after the great mute. :/

I shouldnt have been apart of it, but it was so fun at the time xD

That must have been lonely for you, Swedish hotel didn't open until the very end of 2004 :P
Felt very old looking through furni last night and thinking about the nice "new" stuff that actually came out nearly a decade ago lol

Lol my first habbo account was in Finnish habbo. and fyi swedish habbo started in 2001 as an independent habbo running on leased copyright from sulake OY. Officially opened at beginning of 2003 as a part of sulake.

ahh yes my bad, i forgot sulake had a tendency of allowing 5 yr olds to help x (if your age is what you said it is, that is)

Also makes me feel old on habbo when people dont know about the black afro guys closing the pool

Lmfao. there was like 20 staff/mod fakign their age back then (not included all the members), thats why they closed that system down

"I know when i started, at least in the swedish domain, there was a feature in teh login where you needed to write your social number so they could confirm yoru age"

There wasn't a Swedish domain back then (again, late 2003 for that), it would have been impossible for them to make that a feature, and even Mobiles Disco which about 4 people in the world used wasn't made until 1999 and certainly didn't take 2 years for them to build. But that aside sure at age 5 you stole your dad's identity and convinced a team of established designers and programmers that you could moderate their newly-built global chat site

Oh also scripting was never allowed and the bobba filter was there from the start

I miss battle ball and snow storm so much!!!

I think the biggest thing wasn't even that old but I hosted Freeze like a year ago and no one knew what it was but it was so popular when it first launched!!!!

knowing some habbos weren't even born when you first joined. also sometimes when you go furni shopping and you call things by their old name/category and the owner doesn't know what you mean.

There are many things that make me look back with fondness, especially on Habbo AU.

The campaign before they released pets, all the stories in the Pixel Press.
Bamaloo and Fraggle doing a radio show and giving away DJ Turntables.
The times of "Mafias" and "Armies" in the little 25 seater rooms.
Playing Wobble Squabble until the early hours of the morning, trying to get those darn dragons.

Just to list a few.

- Checking my pet's age: +3000 days old (BR server) and they are as healthy and pretty as myself. But I think they are a bit unhappy and hungry right now ;)
- Remember that I was a Pixel (as well as the other seasonal money as the valentine's heart) furni aficionado. It was a dream to make a little party with all those Effect-furnis (Do you remember the Bubble effect? It's my favorite), specially if you were a poor Habbo! Viva Simplicity!
- Remember that I entirely enjoyed the VIP times just to achieve the REAL-BLACK black clothes. But when I couldn't, the HC were enough to go to the places and say that I had a cool punky hair.
- Remember that I used to play Habbo in the Shockwave's 4:3, it was enough for the 4:3-monitor users (I downloaded this Plugin only to play Habbo. I got upset cos I was purely a Macromedia's Flash user) but I love to play in a wider screen though ;)
- Remember that I had a crush on the Big hand (I still go to the inventories and say to myself: It's my "hand"). And my faithful friends: The flies on the Money counter...
- Remember that I used to go to those Zoomed-out public rooms, stage of those super-important campaigns related to something that we love (For some reason, we from Brazil could see Habbo everywhere in 2010. A huge advertisement campaign I must to say) specially the VIP Guest's places (Universal Lounge, for Brazilians) but it would be cool to see their zoomed bodies though ;) I love that old library with a huge statue at the entrance, these almost-endless corridors and the Mobiles Disco (the Habbo's dad) bar. When they launched Mobiles Disco I was eating sand in the sandbox and crying as a good toddler but it was good to feel what the MD guys felt. :')
- Remember that I spent more time playin Snow Storm (Tempestade de Neve) in the Habbo than the Habbo itself!!!!

I'd say the people but that would be a lie since half of Habbo users are 20+ these days :P. I think definitely the public rooms, I remember the welcome lounge for example. I used to always hang out in there thinking I was e-cool!

Just thinking about Habbo makes me feel old. There are people playing the game now who weren't even born when I started. It's a shame it seems to be a husk of its former self now. I spent so much time and money on Habbo but I don't regret it too much, even though I've lost touch with almost all of my online friends. I guess it could seem like a waste, but Habbo in its prime was just great. You know you're old when you wish Habbo reunions were a thing.
